I just flashed my first lite-on and it was quite the experience. I used dvdkey32 out of JungleFlasher to get my key, inquiry, and identify. Everything was good, I tried a second time but was unsuccessful getting the key again. Tried the power cycling the drive, reclosing it halfway again, but no luck. I did however get to check the key with xtractor and they match so i decided to go ahead and flash. I have a VIA card so i was a little leary at this point since it wasn't my xbox and it was my first lite-on. I went ahead and loaded the dumped files in jungle flasher and spoofed to ix 1.5 and saved my Lite_CFW.bin file. Now i went to erase and read the commands carefully. When i went to power cycle the drive i must have waited to long and windows froze. I waited awhile and it would unfreeze for about 5 sec and then freeze again. Tried to power cycle the drive and no luck. I tried various things for awhile but with no luck. So what i ended up doing was taking a jump drive, I used iPrep to make it bootable and then just deleted all the files off of it. Downloaded dosflash 1.7 beta and used dosfhlash 16, i copied over the 2 files from dosflash16 and plus my Lite_CFW.bin. Booted to my jumpdrive and typed dosflash.exe and it recognized the lite-on. Select the corresponding number to the lite-on and it gave me 3 different commands, read, erase, write. I chose erase but come to find out if you just chose write, it will erase first and then write. Erased firmware and flashed the Lite_CFW.bin. And now my drive started working again!! Backups work flawlessly! Sorry for such a long post but i wanted to share my experience with everybody in hopes that it will help somebody that had the same problem i did!

yes i think its really just better to use the dosflash utility ... that's what i did today and it worked just fine. the jungle flasher will probably be decent down the road when the bugs are worked out ...

i give the guys all the credit in the world though for making this liteon flashing possible ! its a very good thing for anyone into xbox 360

Leerage, any chance you could draft a tut for what you did? I have a friend that wants me to flash his liteon but I am not comfortable enough to do it. I would hate to brick it.

    @leerage

When you tried flashing, did you follow the guide on how to flash the liteon with a via card? Such as, starting off by uninstalling the via drivers?

Wow, thumbs up to this guesswho guy for his patience and assistance. I've never read so many stupid questions in one thread before and I don't think I've seen anyone else on any other forum look past at how stupid some questions are and still help out.

Just because someone doesn't know something and asks in a forum doesn't make them stupid. Yes I know a lot of material and answers are in this forum and does take some time to read, but you don't have to get on here and add nothing to the forum by bashing people on what you call "stupid" questions. Guessswho is a great person for answering everybody questions. It's people like you that ADD nothing to this forum and make this thread 20 pages. Please take your crap some where else.

Fair enough; I never called anyone stupid though, I just think some of the questions asked are stupid.

No, I did not do that. I am assuming that is why windows froze. I have uninstalled the via drivers and just have portio32 now. So i just leave all via drivers uninstalled? If that is the case it is going to kinda get annoying every time i boot my computer, windows is going to ask me to install the hardware.

just follow the guide on how to flash with a via card. It says everything step by step.

And I know it works.... I tested it out myself

Delete the viamraid.sys file out of your c:\windows\system32\drivers.

    1. Used iPrep to get my sata info ( I use the connection on my via card that is closest to the front of the computer) Once iPrep has your sata info and says VIA 6421, click the question mark and it should give you 8 letters and numbers total. The first four are the number/letters you want to remember.
    2. Used the lite-on key extractor add-on from DIYgadget
    3. In jungle flasher, under dvd key32, chose drop down list under I/O port and chose the corresponding one from iPrep,(0x????) then you should see info populate about vendor and name( name should have the lite-on DG-16D2S in it)
    4. COM1 is my db-9 connection, then I ejected the drive, pushed it in halfway, power cycled the drive, connected my alligator clamp to the voltage regulator on xbox connectivity kit, pushed pin into R707 and clicked get key.
    5. Returned good key, saved it along with identify and inquiry.
    6. Then I went to firmware tool tab, and under source, I clicked "load dump files" and it chose key, identify, and inquiry. Under target I loaded ix 1.5 lite-on firmware and then clicked spoof source to target. Asked me to save Lite_CFW.bin.
    7. I then took a jump drive and formatted it and made it bootable from iPrep, deleted all files off jump drive that iPrep put on it, and copied over DosFlash16( contains 2 files DosFlash.exe and DosFlash.typ from DoshFlash 1.7 beta)(google DosFlash 1.7 beta for download) and also copied Lite_CFW.bin. At this point jump drive should only have 3 files in it.
    8. Booted to my jump drive and typed dosflash.exe and it will start to populate all info off of sata. Make sure you have any sata CD/DVD drives unplugged. You should see something like
NAME: MXXC(MX25L2005) That is your Lite-ON drive, the one you want (my corresponding number was 6)
    9. It will give you 3 different commands, Read, Erase, Write
    10. I chose write and it prompted me for firmware so I typed Lite_CFW.bin it started erasing and then started to write the firmware.

This worked for me as I did not uninstall the via drivers and that is why it froze for me in Jungle Flasher when attempting to erase original lite-on firmware. I believe you can dump key inquiry and identify also booting to a jumpdrive. I originally did this on a floppy drive because I couldn't find a program to make a bootable USB drive, only floppy. Then I realized iPrep made a USB drive bootable.

Yes, I did delete that file, and after reboot, windows was still wanting to install. I did manually add in portio32 but after the reboot, windows was still wanting to find drivers for my via card.

just don't worry about it. You can just close that window that pops up. Only time you will need to have them installed then is when you flash a sammy or so.

No biggie to just close a window, or reinstall/delete drivers as necessary.

I am wondering if you can still flash the Benq and Samsung drives the same way with iextreme 1.5 like before with 1.4. I have flashed around 10 Benq drives, 1 Samsung, and a few Hitachi drives so I am not completely new, but still fairly new at flashing. The only reason I ask is because I am wanting to put 1.5 on my Benq system and I haven't read if anyone has done this without CK3 since I don't have mine yet. Sorry if this sounds like I am clueless, but I just want to be careful and follow the directions. I have the tutorials for the Benq and Samsung drives from before so this is why i am asking if using the old way will work with putting 1.5 on the drive. If not, so be it, but a little tutorial for the Benq and Samsung would be nice if someone wouldn't mind doing one for those drives for ixtreme 1.5. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

the old way will work. Make sure you load the new 1.5 definitions into ixtreme.

I know it works because I flashed a sammy the old way, and it went fine.

    It will work the same

I use Jungle Flasher to do BenQ and Sammmy 1.5 updates. I just open benq/sammy 1.5 in firmware tool box and add in key, save and then go to FirmwareTool 32 tab, and then load firmware under target, then to MTKFlash 32 tab in JungleFlasher. I then chose my corresponding I/O Port under the drop down tab and on the right hand side clicked Device ID, prompted to power cycle, did that and now info about drive is populated. Can read, erase, and write from there. I had been using iPrep for BenQ/Sammy but I find that JungleFlasher is a little bit quicker to get the job done.

It's not really necessary to use iPrep to make a boot disk for DOS, all you have to do is right click on your floppy drive and go to format, and click MS-DOS startup. Then you can create a new folder on your disk in which you place your utilities (I used DVDkey to dump the liteon key, and dosflash to erase/write).

It is, I found, much simpler to use DOS as much as possible. If you find that your connectivity kit crashes Windows as it did for me, you can dump your files via DOS with DVDKey, then load the files into JungleFlasher, where you can create your hacked firmware. Then you can put the firmware onto your DOS bootdisk with DOSFlash and erase and flash your drive. If I had done that originally, it would have taken probably 15 minutes instead of 2 days.

Thanks to both guesswho and leerage for the info. It is great to have people who don't mind helping out. I am hopefully updating my system tomorrow so if everything goes correctly I will let you know. I have a Hitachi drive 360 to flash when that update comes out so that will be fun to learn over again.

For me Windows crashed every time I turned on my ck3, instantly.

I also had problems installing the PortIO drivers, but using the latest ck3 tool software fixed that.
