How do you get your drive key info if you do not have the original information so that you can use jungle flasher?

could you kind of rephrase that question? How to get the drive key? And which drive are you flashing?

Besides the liteon, I am pretty sure you can get the drive key any way you did previously. Worked for getting the key off of my sammy.

So the situation is this. I have a Benq drive with ixtreme 1.41 on the drive for the FW. I want to put ixtreme 1.5 on the drive now. I do not have the original FW bin file for the drive, so I can't restore the original FW back to the drive. leerage put in his response that he used firmware toolbox and added in key. I was wondering what key and where did he get it. All I know is that I am probably becoming a pain in the arse by now about something that is way more simple than what I am making it out to be. I tried using iprep 101 0080. I used it the same way I used previous version to do successful flashes by unplugging my disc drives and hdd from my motherboard and only having the Benq drive plugged into the motherboard, and then booted from usb. All it did was brought up C:/ which I wasn't 100% sure what to do from there. i then downloaded and installed iprep 101 0085 and tried that. It took me to the screen to use for Benq, Samsung, and Liteon. The directions said for Benq put rBen then the serial number, which I did and kept getting a message saying invalid program or something along those lines. I then tried to use iprep 101 0062 and put ixtreme 1.5 that way and when I went to boot to the usd it would come up with a failure to boot message. So then I was going to try using Jungle Flasher. I had my Benq hooked up and powered on. I open Jungle Flasher and this is where I am a bit confused. On the Firmware Tool 32 tab under source do I put in my Benq information that is on the drive currently? I was successful in getting that information from the MTKFlash 32 tab. I put in the correct I/O prt and it brought up the Benq drive. I then used the Benq-un-lock to unlock the drive and then used drive ID to get the flash chip properties box to fill in the information. After that I clicked on read and it gave me an OFW.bin file to save which I did. The question I have is this, do I use that file on the firmware tool 32 tab in the source and then put the ixtreme 1.5 for Benq into the target, or the other way around? This is where I am a bit unsure so I am not wanting to just fiddle around and brick my drive. Like I said before I am still a bit new to all of this so I am wanting to make sure I take my time and do things the correct way. I haven't messed up a drive yet out of the 10-12 I have done and I don't feel like starting to mess them up now. It was easy to flash with ixtreme 1.41 I think because the tutorials had pics and all to help, which we don't have yet for 1.5 so I am just acting like a noob even more so because of that. Thanks for any help you all can give and especially to guesswho for try to do what he can to help.

so I definitely only read about 3 sentences in, too long for me to want to keep reading.

I used iprep v006. It always worked best for me. Use that. And just use dben to get the key off, and then fben to flash the new hacked firmware on.

you don't have to flash back to original. I didn't with any of the drives I have done. You are perfectly able to extract the drive key from the hacked firmware you already have on it.

    my lite-on box is now HAXX0R3DD ^o^

i extracted the key using jungle flasher and a homemade serial tool using a transistor, some resistors and wire (why the heck would anyone NOT do this???) then i built the CFW and erased

after that my windows would lock up if the drive was connected at all so i had to use iPrep... BUT!.....
iPrep refused to write to my flash drive, and then on the flash drive it DID write to, it wouldnt boot, even if i selected that drive from boot menu

    so...
i burned me a simple DOS V6 CD
Burned the contents of the iPrep disk on another CD
    Booted with the DOS CD
    swapped CDs
used iPrep as usual to re-erase and flash my drive with the lite-cfw.bin

stuck it all back together and made sure it ran my originals
i dont have any backups to test yet, but if it runs originals still, then im sure it will do backups fine too

    woot!!

I just successfully flashed my first lite-on but I ran into two problems in the process. First I couldn't get my main computer (Vista) to detect the COM port, so I took everything to my backup XP computer. That computer wasn't working either so on my main computer I installed the USB drivers (Don't know if I was supposed to use that from the start) and used the xtractor DVD key reader or w/e that program is to detect the COM port, and using that number I punched it into JungleFlasher and that worked.

There I was happy and all pumped after an hour of having trouble so I went to the next step and when I tried to load the hacked firmware it said "Can't open the file" (on the Vista Computer).

Now I took all my dumped files (from reading the key) and used that on the XP computer to finish hacking the drive.

Is there any reason I was getting "Can't load file" or did anyone else have that problem. I would like to only have to use one computer.

i can think of a really good reason....
    Vista...
    thats all

if it works on XP then theres nothing wrong with the prog

honestly, saying "I use Vista" is pretty much like saying "I use Windows ME"

Yeah thanks for the response, that will totally fix my problem.

Seriously I don't need to be lectured that vista sucks, just looking for a possible fix.

Thanks guesswho for the suggesting iprep 006. I guess when I originally tried using that version I didn't reformat my usb flash drive so both iprep 006 and 0085 were on it at the same time. Once I used iprep 006 and had that program reformat the flash drive and after that the flash worked fine. Sorry for the long drawn out post earlier in the thread, but I just wanted to get that off my mind since it was harassing my sleep.

well your problem was already fixed, AND im not lecturing you, im sorry i didnt think you were actually looking for a fix since you already found it by using XP

you asked for a reason that youd get the error, i just told you what i think, dont be so surprised or distraught with my response, it is purely a matter of opinion after all

if you want a more technical reason
Microsoft patched alot of holes with Vista that used to exist in XP which certain programs use to run properly... along with, of course, introducing a couple unique probelms with the OS

if heard of people fixing certain issues by running programs as an administrator, maybe that will help, im not sure

of course you could be unfortunate, like myself and the program just hates your hardware

I just got mine working. My biggest problem was my onboard sata chipset with my motherboard. Got the constant locking, but once it all worked together, I was happy!

I learned that if the com port doesn't show up (used serial -> USB adapter), you can just type "COM3" into jungleflasher and it works fine!

PS - Vista worked fine for me.

woot! falshed my lite-on. Had a little trouble with the erasing par, used noob tut, which said that it info needed to look exactly the same but it just needed to be similair(eg flashed with 0x72 prob) but i figured things out after a restart and a total system crash(which was weird). Flashed on xp. using ck3lite and probe and jungle.

so, here's a unique situation if someone wants it.

For the first person that messages me, I'd be willing to flash their liteon for free.

The purpose being that when I did it, I would make a video tutorial on how to do it to try to help everyone.

So either someone who needs it done, or wouldn't mind it getting done by me so I can try to help make this tut which should help everyone.

If you don't mind, send me a message, and we'll make it happen.

    thanks

well like I said, I'm willing to do it for free for someone to help make that tut. I just need someone willing to volunteer their drive with a liteon...

Alright, I'm sorry for my response but yeah I am looking for a fix, I figured it was a vista problem when I went to XP so I was hoping there could be a fix so I could just use my main computer. But thanks again and ill keep plying with it.

you can just use your own lite-on if you have one and if no one volunteers to use their own.

Is it normal for your key.bin, identify.bin, and inquiry bin files to be 1kb in size???

I'd hate to "guess" that these file sizes are correct and flash when it's a bad read...seems small to me.

BTW, for anyone curious, XP is rounding up these file sizes, the exact numbers I have are 512 bytes for key.bin, 96 bytes for inquiry.bin, and 16 bytes for key.bin.

Does this sound right?...please let me know...I need smart people, lol
