No....we did a couple with your suggestion of installing with.dll we had same issues PC locking/freezing,but only on every second or third drive we did,we followed the same tuturial as you,some drives we can flash in 30 secs some we have to resort to DOS to finish off.What we did find was that a lot of background programs were interfering with JF so closed down a lot off apps, we had the bare mininum programs running and this fixed the issue of locking/freezing but for some reason JF seemed to be only half doing it's job ? it would only erase half the original FW or so it appeared,no response from the drive so we had to as i said use DOS to finish off.what we have found so far is it appears to be happening on random lite ons,we did one for a person all over and done with in 30 seconds then we did mine and JF only half worked,no locks ups or anything just didn't seem to fully erase,did it with DOS then for some odd reason we could put the modified FW on via JF...next drive we did went smoothly done in 30 secs again then did another lite on and it happened again the same as what happened to my drive,don't know what your thoughts are but we are thinking that not all lite ons appear to be the same in some aspect...what area we don't know but thats our experiences with the new lite on so far,very easy to do but every second or third one as i have stated we have to resort to DOS.

 

im thinking that its just the drive locking up the card, because i booted a few times with the drive plugged in and it froze the boot process at the sata card screen (comes up before anything "windows" happens)

i just had to disconnect it until i had DOS loaded

 

I had followed the guide for liteon flashing with a via card.

can sum1 please gimme a detailed step by step, i have no idea of where t start and wt i shud buy to flash it. And no BS saying i shud have read all the previous threads etc, coz i have but still not 100% sure

 

look back one or 2 pages, i think it was guesswho who supplied the link to a very good tutorial otherwise use the search button in here as people will start to complain again about every newbie coming in asking what you have just asked.

Just sent my 2 yeare old 360 back to MS as it has died for the last time after multiple xclamp fixes, but rrod came back eveytime. I'm sure that they are going to send back a liteon drive so I'm looking to buy a kit to flash with the spear, can anyone recommend a UK stockist plus the best one to go for.

I have a via 6421 sata card already that I've used to flash sammy/hitachi+benq drives in the past, but never a liteon..

Is there any reason for me to keep my CK3 with probe now that I have read my lite-on and flashed it already? I will never need it again right?

 

I would keep it, for any future updates for the liteon firmware, you will need to use it again. Or you can flash other people's drives.

 

Always comes in handy....in case something goes a miss down the track

Because it would be much easier and faster to do some little searching before asking a question. Many questions asked here can be answered with a 5 seconds search on the forums or google.
also, i didnt know any UK sites, but i remembered seeing one posted so i just told him to search the forums.

 

If you have done the xclamp mod the seal is broken. Will they still accept the 360 for repairs?

 

he may have removed the seal and kept it intact or bought a new seal. Or he could get lucky because sometimes they accept 360s with broken seals for repair.

 

A big thanks to drybrdl for the recommendation of mrmodchips.co.uk, that's all I was looking for, I found the spear etc from a few UK outlets but there's nothing like a recommendation from someone that's already purchased from them, rather than a sarcastic "use the search" answer..!!!

I've taken the xclamps off plus have put back to as it should be prior to cracking open, the warantee sticker is easy to take off if you use lighter fuel and store/keep on some wax paper, MS say that it's gona be 2-3 weeks to send a refurb/fixed unit so will have to wait until the new one turns up...

If anyone is interested I'll post with what drive I get back...??
