okay thanks i should already have it in my pc then i guess.
Gonna try flashing after i eat. cya

edit: well it worked! i modded the 360 with little problem. ran into a problem extracting the key but read a post and saw that i had to turn off the drive first b4 i push in the tray. Jungleflasher froze on me when i tried to erase the drive, restarted the program and it seemed like the drive was erased(drive wasnt detected but device info said good to go). so then i just spoofed the firmware and wrote it and it worked! thanks for all your guys help.

Just bricked a lite-on drive. Using the solderless key extractor for DIYGadget and it requires you to put alligator clip on voltage regulator... went to get key and a spark shot from the board. Drive wont power on now.... is there any other way to get the key?? or do I pretty much got a nice new doorstop xbox 360?

if it freezes after a successfull flash and then u have to resort to dos does that mean that then pc is being rebooted which would clear the memory. maybe JF isnt running as smoothly as it could and it is having some memory hangups and after a reboot it clears it and works again? just an idea

I have looked at some tutorials for this:
    http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/iriez/lite-on.dosflash32.tutorial.pdf
    and
    http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/liteon_windows.htm

Theres some things I cant get my head around.
    1. Do you need to solder the R707 and R708 connectors together (they look like they have solder on them)
    2. The probe just goes into the R707, what does it really do? It doesn't even connect two pins together (just seems strange to me)
    3. Is the method completely solder-less in the second tutorial?

You don't need to solder both points. You can just probe R707 and you'll be able to extract the keys just fine. If you're not using the spear, you can make a probe with the right amount of juice by splicing wire number 11 on the power connector from the xtractor (or ckv3) that runs to the drive and running that to a wire connected to a safety pin. Do a google for making a cheap spear and you should find it. I've flashed 2 360's already and just speared the r707 via during extraction.

so if you follow that method it would be solderless. Otherwise, you will have to solder the points together for the soldering method

light flashes on xbox and it keeps rebooting itself. im just going to return it back to walmart. Just a warning to anybody using a solderless lite-on key reader, be very careful when attaching voltage regulator and make sure it is securely attached and not touching any connection on back side of dvd adapter.

on another note, does anybody think there will be a way to get the key via sata for the lite-on drive, or is going to stay that you have to have a key reader?

You need to keep erasing the drive until it returns with a 0x72 status. Without that, you won't be able to flash your drive. Once you get that status, you will be able to do so. Do it either in jungleflasher (if you can) or I used dosflash 1.7

    @leerage

for now, we're all going to have to use some sort of key reader.

if your computer locks up or doesnt show the drive every time you connect your lite-on drive, what you will need to do is boot into dosflash... i wrote a little walkthrough of dosflash a couple of pages back

Thats highly possible as well,in a situation that occured to a friend with a benq and connectivity kit his CK gave up the ghost and it also rendered his Benq useless (bricked) so it's possible when one shorts it can bugger up both items.
