Maybe I need to find a different guide then. I looked at the one posted above, http://360patches.com/Benq-Sammy.pdf and I don't see that. All I see is "you have now successfully flashed your Benq with ix1.5 enjoy
benq/sammy ix 1.5 unlock with tray half open power up from now on" which doesn't make sense. And it says that at the very end of the Benq section, which is after the write directions.

I am going to flash my liteon using this tutorial:
    http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/liteon_windows.htm

I was wondering if there is any advice on how to ground the probe. I don't want any sparks to fly when I touch the probe (as I heard this happening to other users). I am purchasing the lite connectivity kit from xecuter and a probe.

Just follow the directions. Sparks are RARE. I have no idea how he did that. It is honestly very simple.

:) people with unsteady hands usually cause the sparking.

all u gotta do is put the probe into one hole or the part below it.

im not for sure but i think there is a voltage regulator right below the r707 hole. I would cover it up with some tape or something just incase. I have no idea what happened in my situation but it sucked.. I dont know if it was an issue with my dvd adapter or what but sparks shot when i went to get to probe the r707 hole. i dont think you should have any problems. I think my issue was elsewhere with power adapter.

I used the homemade spear (no soldering) and it worked great.

Please note this is not my design. I could only hope to be good enough to create something like this. I recommend after you build use a multimeter to test the volts coming out of the needle. I think I had 1.9V coming out of it. Let me know if you have any questions. My finished product looks like crap but it works like a million dollars.
