I am getting a new 80 gig maxtor harddrive and I want to know if its better
to partition it rather that not. Is it better partitioned for safety against viruses and all that? Or will it make no difference? I've heard it runs better with partitions, it can find files faster. Is that true?

I have dual 160 GB in a RAID setup and also have two 80 GB that are partitioned into 40 GB each. It is a little faster when you partition them. As far as viruses ot wpmt really matter, but you can put all of your important files on the second partition and if you do get hit with a major virus and have to reformat then you can just format the bad part and still have your other partition with your important stuff on them and wont have to worry about losing those files due to a virus or fatal error.
