i suspected that's how it would be; the digitalfaq page is still a very useful reference.

the other extreme is how cdfreaks do it. i'm not saying they're crap at cdfreaks (far from it), but i feel sites such as afterdawn see more of the day to day unending hassle that crap media causes, as we see 'the man on the street' having so many problems, as opposed to running loads of tests of loads of discs.

After awhile when you see the same problems with the same media, logic dictates it has to be that media. Especially when changing from said brand cures it. Granted there are those, not me, that have no problems with crap media and good for them. However, the majority of posters seem too, so it is best to keep to the recommendation of what is known to work and to be of good quality. DigFaqs has a good base information and well worth a look and give you an idea of what is quality, but as with anything it is not the last word. My 1 pence thought, I am cheap today.

Well said all. (I am with you, Creaky. I am not going to change my firmware/write strategy for each different brand of "budget" disc when I can just get the good stuff) Even though "K" did make reference to a better quality laser resolving crap media issues, he/she actually substantiates our dislike of crap media. The average consumer is not going to own all of this "high end" equipment. Burners are on pretty equal footing when it comes to the major manufacturers and pricing, quality, etc. But, DVD players, on the other hand... I love my Widescreen HDTV, AV Receiver, etc; BUT, I'll be damned if I'll ever pay $500 or more for a high end DVD player. Especially when I can just-

    everbody repeat after me:

    [bold]Use quality media!!![/bold]

and watch it on any piece of equipment that I feed it to. The media is the cheapest, easiest, and most important fix in this scenario... It just makes good sense. Anyway, that is a good list. I just can't justify defending the CMCs of the world... Thanks to AD, I've never lost ONE RED CENT on CMC DVD media!!!

well I've learned an important lesson today: for someone that puts out an information page, like DigitalFAQ's media guide, it's funny that that person doesn't want to get involved with us low lifes who roam the forums for info~!!! I think it was rude of "K" to NOT get involved at all when the page that is being produce is looked at by us lowlifes! It's a contadiction and a hypocrisy of what they are trying to do with the media guide.... and that is to reach people, LIKE US, to help out! But when given the chance to really get your hands dirty with us by first contact, then they turn us down! Like here ya go, use this info for your decissions, but we don't want to talk to you at all about it! No discussions at all...... TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT...... THERE YA GO!

I feel ya, IHoe. At least the list echoes the brands we recommend here everyday as being the best! That's good enough for me. PLUS, it reiterates the fact that the "experts" take note of AD...
