this might be some help to all you guys out there which are having problems with this power calibration error.what i know is that the cd burning engine which comes with xp was developed by adaptec. Heres what to do and most of your problems hopefully will be solved. 1 on desktop click start 2 select control panel 3 click on administrative tools 4 click on services 5 browse your way down to IMAPI CD BURNING COM SERVICE 6 right click (on IMAPI) then select properties 7 in the middle of the window it will say start up type.click on the arrow to the right and select disabled. 8 make sure you click APPLY
Well I tried that and it did not work at all. Keep in mind I am trying to burn DVD's..I am thinking that there is no help for me arggg..
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=94748 Thats where I got the info. Worked for me but I too had problem with Nero 7. Switched back to nero 6.6 and all is better now. Binkie7 will come and help you. Sorry I couldnt do more myself. Good luck
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1750 I tried updating my dvd drive using the above link which was given on some message boards. When it went to install it said the supported drive wasn't connected or something, not for sure what is going on.
Sorry another quick update. I went to the Driver Devices just to make sure nothing is wrong or anything and the DVD drive looks to be working fine, but farther down I have a yellow exclamation point next to ATMEL-AT76C502AR_D. I have no clue what it is or anything but it is listed under OTHER DEVICES-it says it isn't working because the drivers aren't installed for this device.
http://121ware.com/support/download/003/811bh102.exe Use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden to eliminate media as the culprit. Power calibration errors are usually either firmware out of date, or poor media. Also that 122mb of memory is not enough and you need to shut down everything not needed for burning. Nero's response to that error: Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9. I get a 'Power calibration error' or 'Calibration area (almost) full' error message. Why? Power Calibration is controlled by the recorder. Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the CD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). During the write, it continues to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole CD; this is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC). This whole process is controlled by the recorder, though initiated by programs such as Nero. There is an area on the inner part of the CD for the test and test data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times. If you receive the "Power calibration error" or "Power calibration area is (amost) full" error message, the cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder. Please try the following solutions: Update the firmware of your recorder. Please check the manufacturer's website for the latest version. Try another brand of DVD media. Try different power connectors, and for recorders, do not share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, the power source in the chassis could be the cause. As a test, try to take the recorder out of the external chassis and connect it internal. Try different configurations, such as taking the CD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master. Send the recorder in for service. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Try different media after firmware update and you will probably not have to do the last suggestion from Nero. from: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/302209
I am using Vertabim as my media. I have tried system restore to back to earlier in the month. That also did not work. The firmware is old I know this, but I can't update it as it says the drive is not hooked up or whatever..ahh I am frustrated!!!
Your firmware needs updating, latest version is H102, go here for upgrade http://121ware.com/support/download/003/811rh102.exe Although not a big issue here, try to free up some more memory, close down all unnecessary programs including spyware and dont multi task You are burning too close to the edge of the disc, reset to 4300 You are burning a little slow try 4X your burner doesnt like your media, a firmware update should fix that
Ok, well I tried the firmware upgrade-"Supported drive is not connected" that is the message I get when I try to install the firmwear upgrade. I am not for sure where to go from here. Also how do I change the properties so I dont burn to close to the edge. Also My drive is only a 2x machine, or atleast 2x is what the highest I am able to choose. Please help
