I have a gateway 7200XL computer that came with 1 GB Ram installed (2X512DDR). I am trying to upgrade the RAM to 3GB by adding 2 - 1 GB PNY DDR Ram modules. I have had no luck in the upgrade. Upon bootup, if I go into the config screen, it shows the 3 GB RAM. However, as it goes through the bootup, it will sometimes regboot by itself, Go to a blue screen, or just go to a blank black screen. Once it went to the desktop screen but would not open any of the programs when I clicked on the icons. I have had to go back to just the two 512 original memory modules and it works ok now but of course only with the 1 GB or Ram. What do I need to do to get the new ram to work with my system? By the way, I am running Vista Ultimate.
