I have a DVD that appears as if it was two avi files transcoded to a DVD with out the files being merged. I ripped the ISO to my HDD and imported it in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 to create a new menu, however it wants me to create a title menu with 2 titles, and a sub menu with chapters for each title. I also tried DVD Lab Pro 2 but found i didnt like the GUI. I also tried VOBMerge, merging all the VOBs into 1 VOB but Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 doesnt allow me to import a VOB file, but will allow me to import a DVD structured folder, so also would it be possible to make IFO and BUP files for the merged VOB file?
If ULead will accept an MPEG file, you can convert the combined VOB with 'VOB2MPG'. Normally it looks at the whole VOB set, but as long as the VOB file is named 'VTS_01_1.VOB' or similar, it will convert without encoding. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VOB2MPG
I used vob2mpeg on my original VIDEO_TS folder but it out put 2 mpeg files, which caused the same problem of creating 2 titles on one disc. I could not seem to get it to import my single VOB file. I tried VTS_01_1.VOB and tried VIDEO_TS.VOB. Since were looking to do a VOB->MPEG2 file i tried using TMPGEnc MPEG Editor which i usually use for mpeg editing, but i cant remember how to get it to out put a MPEG file with audio and video. It always out puts it as a m2v file for video and a mp2 for audio. Any suggestions? :-/ EDIT: I ended up using MPEG tools in TMPGEnc MPEG Editor to out put the VOB to an MPEG 2 file. I tried loading the MPEG to in Ulead but Ulead doesnt seem to allow me to out put the video to a folder on my hard drive, only burn straight to disc. So I tried Nero 7 which is what i typically use for creating DVDs but it seems like it is going to re encode the MPEG2 as it is going to take 4 hours to transcode(although it usually only takes like 2.5).

Thanks for all your help attar, but unfortunately nothing seems to work. I tried Mpg2Cut2 but nero wouldnt take a m1v file(nor would ulead), so i renamed it to mpeg and it loaded fine, but Nero still wants to transcode it. I realize it says that no matter what but in previous experience when working with mpeg2 in nero the process only took like 30 minutes with MPEG2 files, not 2.5 hours. So far it seems like it is going to work right in Ulead but i cant confirm this yet.
Do you want to make a new DVD that has the 2 parts play seamless as one? If you will only have one single title, why do you want to create a menu? Without having a menu for the new DVD with a single title, it should be pretty easy. Load the merged VOB in Ifoedit and create new BUP and IFO files. http://www.bestdvdexpert.com/dedecms/html/article/2006/0610/14.html I think i came across a setting in Nero that allowed copying of mpeg2 video without re-encoding. Can't find it though. Edit: It seems that you need to enable "Smart Encoding" in Nero Vision if you have a DVD compliant video and Nero will not re-encode it. If for whatever reason IfoEdit doesn't work, DVD Flick(it is free and awesome!) has an option to make your new DVD without re-encoding, and it can create a new menu:
Well its an old wrestling tape converted to DVD and i guess the person who made it didnt know what they were doing so they made it 2 titles on one dvd. I like to make a menu so i can set chapter marks at the beginning of each match. Since its VHS->DVD its obviously vital to retain as much quality as possible. And smart encoding is set to automatic in nero. I think my main focus would be to get Nero 7(last version in 7 series) to not reencode VOBs or MPEG files. Maybe I will try a different version or try setting it to enabled. Any other suggestions?
