Ive just installed windows xp on my computer as i previously had vista.

The first thing i checked was that my speakers were working. When trying to play the sample music in windows media it said :
"W M P cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly."

Also in device manager there is a yellow question mark next to other devices. When the drop down comes there is about 5 yellow question marks next to things.

What is the problem and how do i fix it ?

I take it you have installed the drivers for your sound card?

Go to the respective site and download them directly to somewhere accessible from there you can update the drivers. You may have a disk already with the drivers on it that may have come with your PC, even if they are old they should work.
