Well, about 3 weeks ago i purchased a Pioneer DVD and CD burner. it works great on dvds but for some reason it only allows me to burn like a cd to a cd. it won't let me burn mp3's to a cd for a regular audio cd. before i got it the original cd burner would work fine for me (never 1 problem nothing) so then i thought maybe something is wrong with the pioneer drive so i put the old one back in and tried and same thing happened. Nero sometimes will just stay at 0% and time will go up to almost 15 min and nothing will happen. other times, it will get up to 4% and not move for 15 minutes. i don't know whats going on. my favorite thing to do on the computer is burn cd's and i'm going out of my mind that i can't figure it out. nero allows me to burn mp3's onto a data cd-r disk. i can't understand this. help please.

THanks in advance. anything is helpful.

I use ANYDVD and CLONE2DVD to burn the dvd's and that works great.

    I have Nero version 7.0.8.2

Maybe you need to update your firmware for it to read your disks on the new drive, only a suggestion however becos it can burn dvds and now that your old cd drive won't burn. are the jumper cables in the right place?

wELL, WHY WOULD'NT IT read the discs i mean it reads the disc's it doesnt let me burn them. The firmware has to be good cuz 3 weeks ago with the old one it worked fine.

Don't the jumpers have to be in the right place if everything else but burning mp3's to a audio cd-r works?

lol yeah I see your point(s) I was merely trying to help.

Try going to your device manager and unistalling your drive and then reboot. Xp will then install it auto when you start up again. Only a sugestion...

Also firmware doesn't have to be good, cos if it's a new drive then firmware is drive specific and just cos it's new doesnt mean it has to have latest f/w on it...

    model is DVR-710

I jsut cant understand bc i can burn dvds with no problems and i can even burn data cd-r's with mp3's on them. i just cant make an audio cd with mp3's on a cd-r. its so annoying. HELPLESS PLEASE HELP.

also, i was reading on other sites taht there is alot of problems with the pioneer burners. just to make sure for the dvd-rom and the pioneer dvd burner waht should the jumpers be set on.

I thought it must be bc i would think if it was'nt in teh right spots it wouldnt let me burn anything correct?

I would set the burner to master and the rom to slave. Cos the burner is the better drive...
