Im starting a poll. I alwats wondered how long a cpu would last without a heatsink hooked to it? Does intel or amd last longer? Let me know.

Im curious. The longest I had was 5 mins with a amd socket 462 junk. LOL!

Surprised it lasted that long. Keep in mind people, that most of the heatsink designs are to help seat the CPU in the socket. That little lever doesn't do all the work.

I did a test run on a machine to see if the CPU was fried by replacing it with another who's fan didn't run, and that HS got hot really fast, and it was only an XP1800+.
