new ps2 having trouble with discs...

    i just got a slimline ps2 with a modchip in it 3 days ago. i have played it for a total of about 3 hours since then. Today, i switch it on to play one of my LEGIT games, and it asks my to insert a ps2 format disc. i reset it and it worked. Is this a bad sign? What could/is happen and what should i do?

    Is your Ps2 modded with a Laser Fix? If slimlines are modded YOU MUST have a laser fix or your laser will burn out in a few hours, if your unlucky.
    ~Well I gotta go, go some exam study to do.

    considering it came with a warranty i believe it does have a laser fix.
