    Update from me guys.

Ok, there's something fishy going on.. not sure what it is.

I can play backups fine, but if I try to reboot the ps2 and play another game right away, it doesn't work. How do I get it to work again? Unplug the PS2 and let it sit for about 1-2 hours. Not sure what this does (clears the memory probably), but once I do that, swap magic will boot again.

Funny though, unplugging for 5-10 minutes will NOT work, it has to be 1-2 hours.

That's what i've found so far.

    Update:
    : (

I tried to removed the plastic cover that i had on top of the external switch, and the super glues took the whole Switch Off!.. oh god, i hope i didnt ruin my pstwo.
Hopefully, i can still send it somewhere and see if i can have a dms4 chip modded to it. thats if the dvd tray ever decides to spin.
Stokkes, before my incident happened, i left the ps2 Unpluged, Not on Standby The whole night, woke up in the morning.. thinking it would work, and it didnt.

If you ripped off the internal switch, your probably broke the mechanism for it, making the ps2 virtually dead.

Not sure if this can be fixed, even with a modchip.

i doubt it. the browser still works, and everything works fine. except the dvd tray doesnt spin at all. and this was happening all day today even before i made my fatal mistake. plus, ive heard of people taking the internal switch off the pstwo. that wasnt my intentioned.. but thats what happened when you used super glue.. things get superglued on to each other.

Oh snap what happened Jdilla, sorry to hear about that.I have no clue on how to fix that, but normally you would try to find a PS2 repair parts shop on the internet or something like that.I think since it is so new though, there is probably not one that will carry the part that snapped off as of yet man.If you wiat awhile I am sure I can find something that might help you out Jdilla, but keep looking for PS2 repair shops man.I know there could be a chance there is one that carries the part that broke off or is it unfixable.

Liam1080, same here. I thought modding mine so soon after release was somewhat premature, so I waited also and am happy for doing so considering all the questions arising.

    "Something funny going on." -stokkes

The PS2ownz forumers are somewhat confused at this time for the mixed results of all the mods released so far. Many modders there report that their console must be turned off for HOURS at a time in order to swap twice in a row using SMDs. Confusing? Yes. I think time will only help the PStwo as of now.

Thanks Nephilim, I agree. Done here.

One again, to all those people who are waiting to mod their ps2 because of the problmes here.

    DON'T WAIT

the only people who are having problems are the retards using super glue. Thats a no, no with electronics since the glue might cover parts on the motherboard you don't want it to.

USE TAPE, its safe, its remavable, its easy! No one here has had problems with the ps2 and tape.

Damn... I don't own a PS2, but what kind of tool goes about squirting super glue around electronics. And worse yet, what kind of moron actually TELLS these other tools to do that? I wouldn't even consider using a hot glue gun around something like that for fear of damage when trying to remove the crud when something (inevitably) goes wrong.

The PS1 was the original released playstation, and the PSOne is the smaller version released later.

Same with the PS2, although technically they're called the same, people are adopting PSTwo as the name for the new slimmer redesigned playstation 2.

As for better or worse, the PSOne/PSTwo was released later so it has some newer components in it, as well as it takes up less space and weighs less. With the PSTwo though it is still new and have difficulty in modding it, as well as lack of harddrive support at the moment.

As for the comments about super glue and glue guns, if people don't take risks in modding, how will people figure out how to get around the checks put in place? How is it different from adding solder to your machine in terms of risk? And what if the glue had worked and no problems arose, whereas the tape was ineffectual?

Basically its trial and error at the moment. It's the risk takers who are going to help everyone else in the long run.

Modding as in modifying the system to play backups. It could mean through the harddrive, or it could mean a modchip, or a swapmagic disk format. Etc...

Did you not read any of this fourm? the new PSTwo is SUPER EASY to mod! It works so well with the swap magic disks.

all you have to do is tape down 2 tiny tabs in the pstwo and you are done. The mod is even removable.

The only problems people were having was, noobs using super glue, which unless you are super brave or know exactly what your doing, YOU SHOULD NOT USE! Those noobs put too much glue on and it trickled down on to the motherboard which makes the ps2 useless, unless removed.
