Ok, So I have a new WD 640GB SATA Drive and Windows is not seeing it at all. I could use a hand here. Let me tell you what I HAVE done so I do not waste anyone's time. Current Setup: CPU: DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2800 MHz (14 x 200) 5400+ Motherboard: DFI LANParty DK 790FX-M2RS Motherboard Chipset: AMD 790FX, AMD Hammer System Memory: 4096 MB (DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM) Storage: Storage Controller SCSI/RAID Host Controller Storage Controller Silicon Image SiI 3512 SATARaid Controller Disk Drive ST3320620AS (320 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II) Disk Drive WDC WD1600YS-01SHB1 (153 GB, IDE) Disk Drive WDC WD5000AAKS-22TMA0 (465 GB, IDE) Disk Drive WDC WD6400AAKS-65A7B0 (596 GB, IDE) Optical Drive ATAPI iHAS120 6 SCSI CdRom Device Optical Drive OZ0993X XWP556H SCSI CdRom Device Partitions: C: (NTFS) 20480 MB (6085 MB free) D: (NTFS) 278.1 GB (256.7 GB free) E: (NTFS) 400.0 GB (30.9 GB free) F: (NTFS) 196.2 GB (132.6 GB free) G: (NTFS) 465.8 GB (156.8 GB free) H: (NTFS) 153.4 GB (39.1 GB free) Total Size 1513.4 GB (622.1 GB free) As you can see, I have 4 HDD Hooked up to the MoBo via the boards onboard SATA connectors, and then I have a Silicon Image PCI SATA Card that I have the DVD Burner hooked up to. I hooked the NEW WD 640GB drive up to this controller card as well on the 2nd port, but Windows is NOT recognizing it. Any idea why? Initially I thought, "Bad Controller Card", but the DVD Burner is functioning perfectly off of this card. So Why is the HDD Not recognized? It does not show up in Windows Explorer, Acronis Disk Director, Windows Disk Management nor in Everest. I really could use some of the expertise here in guiding me towards a solution. I hope I was thorough enough in my explanation and description of setup and changes.
I couldn't get any hard drives to show up on one of my Sil Cards, I've had to use the other, it wouldn't surprise me if there's a fault with that card, either that it can't recognise hard disks, or that one of the ports is faulty. Have you tried swapping it and the DVD burner round?
