    Hi all
I have this problem, i have just bought the Pioneer DVR-215bk sata dvd writer and cant get it to write. I also have a rw which is IDE. When i try to burn anything it keeps going to the IDE drive and not the Pioneer drive Which is not Dual Layer, ie backing up my xbox games, is there any kind of configuration i have to do first. The drive IS recognised in Windows.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks Mike

It would help to know what program you are using to burn with. Most have a drive/target selection drop down menu to choose the drive that you want to burn to.

Thanks guys , i went out this afternoon and bought some Verbatim disks and it worked fine, this was 6 disks later after using Zerodefex, so guess it was the media, Thanks for the help. Dont think i need to update the firmware yet as it works now but may do in the future. Thanks again!!!

I would still update the firmware, it improved write strategies with blank media.

You need DVRFlash to flash the drive. The readme.txt for either should outline the process.

    Close all other applications
    No discs in the drive
    Tray closed

Good luck...I have the same drive and didn't have a problem upgrading the firmware, but it's been a while as it's not something you do everyday and I can't really remember how I did it.

2.5 is the latest version of DVRFlash ~ http://lasvegas.rpc1.org/

Cheers rots, if you can get the images on separate HDD's you may see a little more speed.

Hey Loco, i managed to flash my dvd drive with the 1.18 firmware but didnt have to use DVR flash. I just run the exe file that i downloaded and it flashed, it was that simple. lol. BUT. It never cured the error i was getting with those disks, putting it down to crap media, Verbatim work fine. Thanks for the advice!!!
