    Hi

I am after purchasing The Box (API ver:2.60e, Boot ver: 7.0, 9.Apr.2007) but am having difficulty setting it up and I would appreciate any assistance.

    I live in Dublin & have N*L

I have connected the N*L cable to the “Cable Input” socket and a Scart connection from the TV to the “TV” scart socket on The Box.

I have gone through the installation procedure and scanned in 141 channels using the automatic scan procedure.

However I can only see 14 channels (mostly EuroNews in various languages), with the others giving me a “Scrambled or bad channel” message.

I am unable to enter the N*L codes – I have tried doing what Fergusrb suggested on another topic, but when I press menu and enter 1570 nothing happens. I have also tried to follow Fergusrb’s instructions/suggestions on descrambling channels but again nothing happened.

I am probably missing something basic or doing something really stupid, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated (as non-technical as possible please).

    Thanks in anticipation.

You need to flash your box with the latest version of firmware which is 4.50. This will solve all your problems.

All you need can be found in Eamos FTA Library link at the end of my post. For the box you need Version 4.50 for Ireland, (Found in "The Box" Firmware folder). You also need the Gtromloader,(Found in Starview Software folder). You will find a full guide in the Starview Documentation folder called Starview Guide PDF. This will show you how to flash your box.

You will also need a null modem cable similar to this:

If you only have a laptop, more than likely it will not have a D9 serial port and you will also need a USB serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.

    USB Adapter Cable http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=29968&DOY=17m6&tabs=n

These are only for reference and can be purchased much cheaper on fleabay.

Sc0user you're a brick, that worked a treat, piece of cake really when you have an expert pointing you in the right direction.
    Many thanks again.

Hi I am also after purchasing the new box version 2.60 and am finding it difficult to set it up. I had the old starview box and all I had to do was enter 1570 or 2004 into parental control and it would show me if the emu is on but it will not let me put in these numbers into this box I got. I am from Galway by the way.
