It takes me that long as well...if anyone knows how to cut our time down I'm up for it....although I don't mind the waiting....

Same here.. makes making DVDs a pain in the butt when Transcoding takes 2-4 hrs to finish.. but the burning process is pretty quick. just the transcoding part takes forever.
does anyone know of a quicker method? i use Nero Vision 3 (from Nero 7 Permium). i'd loooove any suggestions.

    Hi,
Use divxtodvd to encode and use shrink + nero to burn.

    nickw and deedums,
The burning process of a dvd takes about the same time regardless of what burning engine you use if set to the same speed.
I know of only two programs that are faster then Nero as far as transcoding is concerned and they are DivxtoDVD and WinAvi.
It also depends on your computers processing power, the faster cpu, more and faster ram will yield you shorter times.

Give WinAVI Video Converter a try, its the fastest converter out there as far as i know and will convert your a movie in about 1 hour. I have been using this for over 2 years and for me it has worked very well.
