Hey all. I keep hearing that you can safely mods your xbox 360 i keep hearing there are soft mods and hardmods. i want to know is it worth it.. or should i get just a arcade model and mod that instead of my elite. what should I do.. i do not want to get banned or whatever .. let me know i want to do this but on the fence about it
You always risk being banned if you're playing "backups" on Xbox Live. You can minimise the risk by using the latest iXtreme firmware, checking all of your backups with abgx360, and not playing games online weeks before the release date, but nobody knows for sure how MS are detecting modded consoles/games so you can never be 100% safe. I've been playing online for about 18 months and I've avoided 2 or 3 ban waves, but it could happen to me at any time. There's not really any point in buying an Arcade to mod IMO, because you could just mod the Elite. If that gets banned, then go out and buy an Arcade because you can attach your hard drive to it and carry on from where you left off. You could even sell the banned console to make some of the money back. I guess the only reason not to mod the Elite is because it's black and if it does get banned, you'd be replacing it with a white/grey one.
ok so to do this modding iXtreme like what does this mean i have to do??? and can't i just get another xbox live account and use that when i am playing my backups??? like do they ban ur system or do they ban your live account
To mod the console you only have to flash the DVD drive's firmware with the iXtreme firmware, although that's not as easy as it might sound. There are tutorials on how to do it if you Google it, or you could pay someone local to do it if you're not sure what you're doing. MS ban the actual console, not your Xbox Live account.
That's not a lot of use to you. If you flashed your Elite, you would need to find out which type of DVD drive it has, but that's easy enough. You can tell by the shape of the tray, plus you have to crack the 360 open anyway so you'd be able to tell then. There's a tutorial here on how to use a program called JungleFlasher to flash your 360's drive: - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mw2v2t2emmm Have a read, cos it'll give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into, haha.
