I will try not to ask a stupid question for those who know what they are doing. I just got a DVD Writer & Nero 7, so I am new to both aspects....thr writing & Nero. First I have 13 .avi files that are 175 MB per file, total 1.76 GB, I want to burn to a 4.73 GB DVD-R. But Nero tells me there is not enough space. It will only allow me to write 5 of the files to one disc. On top of that, it is taking 4 hours to write those 5 files. What am I doing wrong???
Your likely not doing anything wrong. The process is converting from avi to dvd. Meaning most likely layer 4 mpg such as divx to layer 2 mpg for dvd. Thus the size diference after conversion. And the time for conversion.
Any Ideas why it is taking 4 hours to write, it shouldnt take that long, should it??? Whould be easier to compress the files?? Or convert them before writing them??
Well, like whompus told you, if you want to write them as a dvd, the conversion will take some time. That time depends on your pc specs. The 4 hour time would suggest that you have a sub/around 2ghz processor with maybe 512 slow ram, this is only my guess. If you have a better pc then it shouldn't take that long.
With me being new to the whole process is there another way to write it to a DVD-R instead of selecting the "Make DVD-Video" option in Nero??? Again, sorry for the stupid questions.
You can write them simply as a data disk but then you will need a player that will play them. For instance if they are divx and you want to play them on your set top player it will have to be a player that will play divx.
