OK, I was a into PS2 and Gamecube bt now I have been wanting an XBOX for a while. So I went on eBay and got one.
It says it comes softmodded with the Evolution X, andsays it will play DVDs and burned games. My question is, how hard is it to use this softmod? Is it like a modchip type deal? Pop in the disc and lay or do I need to swap discs and crap or what?

Also, if I decided to boost the HD(I'm thinking this one is the stock size) can I copy the softmod over to a new HD and install it without losing my info?

Well, you'll just have to try it out to see what it's like.

When you first turn it on, you will go directly in to the EvoX dashboard. It is really easy to use, and you'll just have to play around in it to get comfortable w/ it.

You can indeed play your backup Xbox games on your softmodded Xbox, the process is just like any other modded system, put in the disc and play.

You can copy your softmod to your upgraded HD w/out losing any info, when you get to that point I'll tell you how to do it.

Check out this site to learn more about softmodding and "modding" in general...

You have entered a whole new world of console with your purchase. Modded xboxes were the PRE NEXT REVOLUTION. In short, you've just bought a Media Center with the best gaming currently available on any console.

Xbox games, Nintendo, Atari, Sega Genesis, N64, SNES, TG 16, Any region DvDs, 100s of radio stations (Shoutcast), movies, networking capability, free online playing options (XBC & XLink-Kai, the list goes on...

Other good sites with a lot of good with a lot of info are http://www.xbox-scene.com/ & http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/
