I've been backing up my DVDs using dvd shrink and Nero Express 5 for a while now, no problems, but I've got a new computer with a dual layer dvd burner, and Nero won't recognize it as a burner. However, I downloaded a demo of another program (Satiera CD/DVD burner) and it recognized it just fine and is burning away right now. (I love the 64 bit processor! I used to have to leave my computer while it was burning DVDs because it got too slow, but this one runs normally. Sick.) SO- Here's the question: Stick with Nero or jump ship? If I do stick with it, how do I get it to see my burner (will a version upgrade do it?), and if I jump ship, where to? Any other good packages out there? I'm not backing up games or anything, just my movies. Thoughts? -Caleb
get an updated version of nero as version 5 probably dosen't have the updates for your burner. always do updates when getting new hardware as software might not recognise the hardware & that includes windows.
i'd go with Nero. the jump to 6.x.x.x is a cost option though (ie from 5.x.x.x to 6.x.x.x costs). as ddp said, your new burner obviously isn't catered for in version 5, dvd burning came late on in version 5..
