Hi, i just bought this beast of a monitor for a soon to be bought new computer. Im going with a PCI-Express slot but can seem to find any card that runs at the suggested 1680x1050.. even on ATI or NVIDIA sites they dont list that res for ANY card, even tho dell is telling me they support it... so my question is..

Can anyone suggest a good card that isnt gonna put too big a hole in my wallet, that is gonna let me run HL2 and Adobe CS type progs without shortcutting anything (no AA).. i was looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127176
but wasnt sure if that was good enough after reading a few things.. thanks for all the help.. 1

yes, i know there is a link thru dell, but what i am saying is even if you go to ATI.com or NVIDIA.com, those cards that are listed at Dell.com dont even say they support the resolution needed at their own manufacturers site.. so, are there OTHER cards that arent listed as well? is anyone else using some OTHER card that isnt listed that also runs at that res... would that x800 card be considered a good card to begin with? or should i look at getting another card.. right now im running a Radeon 9500 pro with high detail for HL2... is there anything comparable or better than that for less than $200?? i know alot of questions, but i dont want to waste my money on trash.. thanks for all the help... 1

According to my display drivers for my bfg the highest it will run is 2048x 1536. This is in the display driver....so im assuming the card can put it out or it wouldnt be there..lol. I think you would be fine, but I wouldnt buy a ati. I was playing driver by gt and I had blue blocks round the tires and different things like trees. So got another more powerful card and same thing. Got the bfg and the game runs great. Ati literally had the nerve to tell me that their card wasnt the issue, but the way the game was coded was the issue.

So the moral is stay the frick awasy from radeon or ati. They suck. Maybe you will have better results, but after only paying 20.00 dollars more for a nividia and having perfect results..its a safe bet to say its good compared to ati shit. Buy the bfg I mentioned. The 6800gt and you will be fine...

Trust me. You will be alright espicially since you can oc this card more than the factory oc it to. Right now Im running 1.7 ghz memory and 407 gpu clock oc on the card and it screams. The card never overheats and its quiet. The most I see is 63c playing doom, but is lifetime. So who cares if it burns out. Plus according to the device manager...gpu degradation dont hit till a 100c...lol
