i have a number of problems with my hard drive right now to the point where it wont even boot up. is there anywhere that i can just buy a regular stock hard drive for my xbox. not all upgaded with evox and all that extra shit. i just want the hard drive that came witgh the xbox. with the msdash.
I don't know if what your asking for makes no sence to me. The problem is you can not just 'yank and chuck' out a dodgy XBOX™ HDD. As each HDD has to be locked down to each individual XBOX™ sold. So you are going to need some kind of 'Modchip'. in order to be able to use an unlocked HDD in the first place. If you think you can get a cheap Drive off eBay, I'd recomend you forget about it as most of those Drives were done by idiot Moders that never heard about unlocking the Drive. And you can not use a locked Drive from a different XBOX™ in your XBOX™ Modchip or no. As far as Evox (or whatever) is concerned you will need to have such a Dash for a while (at least untill you can Format the HDD and install the M$ Software. I don't know if you can boot Slayers without a Chip. My gut felling tells me no! (I only started useing Slayers after I got my Modchip),. But you will have need of a Porgram called 'ConfigMagic' in order to lockup your HDD for use with a 'Retail BIOS' or XBOX Live!™. Considering how cheap Storage is these days why not spring out for a Cheap Chip and a 200Gb HDD? You can turn most 'Chips' off very easily and so long as you keep C: and E: clean of all non-M$ stuff your golden!
