I have two sticks of 512mb pc2700 333mhz ddr memory for my laptop which has the Intel 855gm centrino chipset and one stick just went bad on me. I tested both sticks by themselves one by one in each of the two slots and every time the one stick wouldn't even boot into the bios.

My newbie question: what ram do I buy? (I want at least 1gb)

Do I buy two new sticks of 2700? 3200? I have looked all over and I can't seem to figure out what the max speed is for this computer. It is a custom built laptop from cyberpower, who after I called told me that the entire thing is built by AOpen.

    Thanks.

what does your manual\user guide say about ram? will be using ddr not ddr2 ram. are they the short sticks or the long sticks of ram as a friend's old laptop used desktop ram in it?

unfortunately there is no guide or manual. A friend had ordered this from cyberpower a few years ago and just gave it to me.

I was hoping that the information I provided was enough so someone could let me know which type of ram I should buy. I'm just confused about the different speeds and whatnot. Does it matter which pcxxxx I buy? Should I try to stick to the same type as it has now even though it is probably more expensive than the newer faster stuff?

can get faster as long as ddr & not ddr2 ram. will either run at it's highest speed or will run at the 2700 speed.
