Hi all, I am using Nero 6 and getting a burn error after a few minutes. I am pretty confused since I have burned many of the same Sony DVD+R discs on my Iomagic drive for a long time. It burns for a few minutes and then dies. I have looked at various websites and threads and nothing seems to address my problem. Here is the log: Thanks for all the help. shaft888 Hi. R u making an image first or copying "on the fly" with Nero(disc 2 disc) If so copy an image 2 the HD first. Sounds a bit odd otherwise, how old is ur burner. The only time ive had anything like this happen was when i had 2 different burning programs open at the same time. i.e. the first burning program had control of the drive(locked) & when the other program tried 2 access the drive the dvd spat the dummy & ejected the dvd drawer. Hope it helps
@shaft888 - - EDIT OUT your serial number - is your burner one of these on this page ? - http://www.iomagic.com/Firmware/FirmwareDownload.html oh hang on, it's not a certain type of BTC drive is it ?....shall await your reply.... - splat!...i suspect out of date firmware, but need you to help me verify exactly which drive you have....
What is BTC drive? I read some links on this and it seems that this is a pretty bad drive. I have the following info from Nero InfoTool: Drive string: F\DVDRW IDE 16X Firmware version: A071 Couldn't find this drive on the iomagic link.
also, I am just burning a data disk from files on my hard drive. I actually just tried it again and Nero said it actually completed successfully. however, when i put the disk in the same drive, it just keeps on spinning and doesn't recognize it. The drive does recognize the other burned data disks I made from several months ago.
unfortunately you have one of those annoying generic drives, ie "DVDRW IDE 16X". you've given a clue, that yours is an Iomagic drive, but as you can see from that link i posted before, it's still not enough to go on. i'll do another search and see what i can find... edit- the best clues i can find are these - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/180855 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/201669 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/226388 my quote from one of those - - luckily you know it's an Iomega of sorts, so we're getting closer.... a-ha, snippet from http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/213588 - Basically you need to give me more to go on, as you see from that quote your Iomagic drive may well be a rebadged BTC drive. check that out for me, your firmware's definitely out of date, but we need to home in on exactly which drive you have before i can point you towards the correct update...
