Okay, I just ordered a modded gamecube with the Qoob SX chip from modchipman dot com(don't know if I can post site links, so I wrote it like that)..

I thought I read everything right and knew what I was doing... but I might not have. I want to use the GC to play backups, that's all. Do I have to flash the bios, or does it already come preflashed with whatever I need in order to play backups?

Also, if I do have to flash the bios...um...how?? The only reason I am asking here is because I've searched for the info, but honestly don't know exactly what I'm searching for. So thanks in advance and go easy on the newbie..

I'm pretty sure you're going to have to flash it. Basically, you're going to have to burn the BIOS to a DVD-R.

Check out modthatcube for a tutorial on how it's done.

All right, well my GC isn't going to have that fancy new case that lets it play regular sized DVDR's..

    Bah, I'm so confused...

I know that the unit is going to come with a USB adapter cable to hook it up to a PC. I went to the qoob site and downloaded their bios flash loader program, and I found a copy of the Qoob 1.2 bios online.

Can someone explain to me exactly how I go about flashing my bios? I have looked through the forum and I can't find specific instructions for that. I just don't want to bork the GC because of my own ignorance.

The Qoob SX doesn't have USB flashing, only the Qoob Pro does. If you did get the Pro, then you're in luck since it's very easy to flash.

With your GC off, connect the USB cable to your PC and Qoob. Run the flasher, click connect. Then click write, select the BIOS you want to flash, and then select a spot to flash it to. Once, it's done, just click disconnect, unplug the cable, and you're finished.

Also, the newest BIOS is 1.3c for Qoob Pro. If you want it to boot directly to a BIOS other than 1.0, you need to get the cracked version of the flasher so you can flash to the first block (the top left one that says BIOS).

Do you have to flash everytime you play a backup game?

Flashing is like updating the bios of your motherboard, you flash whenever there's a new version to gain the upgrades and fixes
