i had a "the target machine actively refused it" error beforehand.

id suggest trying to use newer version of hd_dump server and the corresponding pc side thingy.

either that or sum part of ur hdd is stuffed, and may need a reformat :(, in which case all games go over again

I followed this tut to a "T" except that my ps2 is on a router. I changed the config file to make my Ps2 IP to 192.168.1.4 and I installed the server on the ps2 fine. I transfered the Title.db and Boot.Elf files to the appropriate place on the memory card. I put in my Ps1 game and it booted to the server....

there is only one problem. The Ps2 states that the IP address of the ps2 is "back" to the 192.168.0.10. This is odd because I changed it when I FTP'ed into it initially to transfer over the .db and .elf files to the memory card. Why would it NOW read the ip of the Ps2 as 192.168.0.10????? anyone? It says this:

use mce:/Sys-conf/ipconfig.dat to configure Ip address

Where is that config file? how to I change it? I already initially changed the config file before I made the .ISO. So this is another config file? ...bleh... any help?

use mce:/Sys-conf/ipconfig.dat to configure Ip address

if u have a file like that in your memory card, then it will read that one over an image (.iso).

just put ur edited one there in sys-conf/ipconfig.dat

other than that, write more cleary, thats what i assume you are asking, but i am not 100% sure.

what i believe u have done is.

1)dropped execftps on your hdd (with ur custom config in .iso file)
    2) used execftps to transfer hdl_server stuff onto mem card.
    3) run hdl_server. and gotten diff ip

if execftps ip info is inside the .iso and booted through hdadvance, then only that execftps will kno that ip info.

    you have 2 choices.

    1) make a hdl_server boot iso, and copy it to ur hdd like u did execftps (execftps isnt realli needed for most people, its nice to have but).

    2) fire up execftps, and make a ipconfig.dat in where it is searching for it (google or read original thread).

    hope that helps.

Thanks. I fiddled around with it last night and realized I had to create another folder in the MCE through FTP and then transfer the IPCONFIG.DAT. Originally I was including the IPCONFIG.DAT along with the CONFIG.DAT when I created the .ISO. ITs all good now.

yall know you can run hd loader for free from the hdd on UNMODIFIED SYSTEMS right? welll if you dont, what you have to do is hook your hdd up to your pc, run hdl dumb, make a image file of free hd loader using cdgenps2(or if you want, you could create a whole mc exploit thats what i did). now, if you want just hdloaderfree, rename the elf file to BOOT.ELF in all caps. now, open hdl dumb and browse for the iso image. type in the name, but where it says signature or startup, type in BOOT.ELF. now install it and if you did right, it should boot from hd advance(although i know this is kinda stupid if you are just putting hd loader up there when you have the retail hd advance unless you need the patched version. thats why i put the whole mc exploit upthere.) now if you were doing a whole mc exploit, the signature of startup should bee the BOOT.ELF also of you elf booter. now, you wont need a title.db, but if you want one, when you start up your elf booter, just boot the EXPINIST.ELF and the installing exploit screen will show up like you were booting it off a cd on a moddified system and enjoy!!!

if you have a cat5 cable, and a ethernet card in ur pc it will work.

depending on your pc however it may or may not.

direct pc to ps2, should have a crossover cable, though with newer ethernet cards it is not required.

the beauty of hubs and routers is that it is not required either, x-over or straight through will work the same!.

    put it simply,

TRY IT, it may work :D

    yes it is possible.

i believe ulaunchelf will let u copy the saves folders (it aint pretti) but it should work.

ulaunchelf has an inbuilt ftp server, so u onli need that.

if u prefer more friendlyness, id google, theres many different programs.

though im wondering, what u have? and how u are going to attempt this.

u have wondered into a very very very long HDD thread, i just wanna know your inspiration for reading all this without a HDD

alright, so after a while I finally got FlashFXP to work; make sure you make the settings the same as your PS2 or your configuration, but on Windows make it so that the IP is different.

    that was my problem.

    example:
    ps2
    192.168.0.10
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.0.1

    comp
    192.168.0.8
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.0.1

so I used Cybertiger's SLUS (SLUS_010.04), but when I went to boot it up, it just ran the game.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi.

I will start with saying i'm a noob.

I was hoping someone could help me.

I'm trying to make the ExecFTP work.

I have gotten it to work but it stops when it reaches the Load * * * * ps2hdd (then it freazes and doesn't show the ps2fs and so on)

What is wrong? I've made an iso of the ExecFTP following this guide, and then i'm using the original HDAdvance 2.0...

What can I do to correct this prob??

    Thanks

im not sure what is happening.

    heres a few solutions.

1)hdd formatted correctly? eg views properly in HDadvance?
2)different version os execftps? possibly bad elf or version?

    3) (i like this one the best) try the latest ulaunchelf, has a filebrowser, ftp server and HOST client, and is very versatile (can even launch your elfs), all the previous features are built into this nifty program

    Hi wiredbojo

I'm still a bit of a noob. I have HDAdvance 2.0 and the thing that I wan't to do is to install the boot on the MC and then use a never version maybe hdl. So the easiest way I saw was to "install" the FTP and then transfer the programs this way around..

But no luck, I will try to look at the program you were talking about, do you have any links to any guides??

    Thanks
