    Hi again wiredbojo.

    1) The HDD works fine. Have games on it and they are playing without problems.

    2) I used the newest version of ExecFTP 0.69

    3) I will try to look at this program

    Thanks

    no worries.

i remember i had problems with specific versions of execftp if they were being loaded from HDadvance i believe (.69 is this one).

i kno .68 works fine off the HDadvance, though that being said i just use Ulaunchelf for everything now.

    Wiredbojo

    Thanks again.

But it still freezes when it gets to ps2hdd

Can it be because it's not a PS2 hdd? or what can be the problem?

    Thanks

I have tried the independent compiler 3 and the ulaunchELF 4.04, the Ulaunch gives me black screen, the independent compiler says its missing the cdvd.irx. I have read about it and tried to put it in the files dir also, but still the same prob.

    Thanks

sagar... more information will generalli help.

all the programs connect just the same with a HDD plugged in and without.

however because you do not have a HD, and therefore no HDadvance.

you will need to either have a modded ps2, or swap discs.

If you tell me as much as you can about u and ur system, or PM me with an email(msn), i can help you out

I have tried to follow all of the instructions up until the point where I try to use FlashFXP on my computer to connect to the PS2 while ExecFTP is running on it. For some reason, the connection always gets timed out when I try to connect. I am thinking that it must be how I am connecting my PS2 to my computer. All I am doing right now is running a cross-over ethernet cable from my PS2 Network Adapter to the ethernet port in the back of my computer. I've also tried to run it through my cable modem, but still nothing. Do I have to have something like a hub or a router to be able to establish a connection between my computer and the PS2 or is there a better way? Thanks in advance.

    ur cables will should work.

sorri to sound like a dick, but ive said that thousands of times,

its timing out most likely because IPCONFIG.dat or CONFIG.dat has been setup wrong.

it is different for each system.

im about to go out now. but this is a simple problem, if u still need help pm with ur MSN account

Can anyone verify this claim? Can you load all the necessary software onto HDD in a unmodified fat PS2 so that it will boot to the HD game list screen without the need for inserting a bought pressed HDAdvance disc everytime?

In other words, is it possible to have it set so that an unmodified PS2 will automatically load to the HD game list screen with this setup?

yes it is. (no he is wrong)

you will need a playstation 1 disc, and to research the exploit...

you use the independance exploit, to boot a BOOT.ELF on the memory card. this can be hdd advance, to play games of a internal hard-drive.

    the catch is.

you will need a mochip or a friend with a modchip.

possibly swap discs (not sure never used em myself)

or action replay max (there is a way of installing the exploit via a corrupted save.

or a memory card reader for your pc (ps2s mem card read in pc).

without these, you cannot exploit. (there is no way to install the fiels required)

    I understand.

I'm also curious at to whether a PS2 network adapter is absolutely required to use an internal HD in a fat PS2? Are there work-arounds to this? If not, is there a simplified electronics explanation as to why it's required?

    Thanks.

    u need a N/a for a FAt ps2, or a usb connection.

    simple reason is...

u cant plug it up if you dont have the port!

which is on the ps2 network adaptor.

    hence a no go

My screen also turns black when I boot execftp. I think because the IP set in the config file is wrong.

Does anyone know how to get your PS2's IP (when having it connected to your PC with a crossover)? I have HDA 2.0 btw.

I have hd dump elf installed, but it says my ip is 192.168.0.10 when it should be 192.168.0.13. i have changed both the confic.dat and the ipconfig.dat but still doesnt work. is there a way to fix this? im trying to transfer my files but flashfxp wont let me. i have got connected with execftp but i run into alot of problems. any one know what i need to do?

    hdl_dumb server------pc----> hdl dump/dump client

    execftp--------------pc-----> flashfxp

With ipconfig etc, put both of them in the right places.

Don't worry about specifics, both files ensure it works for everything.

Also why doesn't 192.168.0.10 work on your system?.

most routers ip's are 192.168.0.1, and they dish out ip's after that. So 9 other devices is quite high.

if 192.168.0.10 is taken, why not just change the machine its on to a different number?, that will work if u cannot change it on the ps2.

Okay, I've used the independent compiler to make a memory card exploit work and it boots ulaunchelf, but the programs don't appear on the memory card, however they do appear on my max drive (usb) so I then can select execftp or the hdl_svr elfs, but here's my problem. I used flashfxp the other day and I was so happy when I finally got it connected to my ps2 hdd, but then I had a similar program where it timed out and then it said crap about the connection being refused. Does this mean my network adapter is broken or my hdd is broken? I'm going to try and rip a game to my hdd on the weekend when I have access to my games (they're at home) so I can test to see if it's the hdd. Anyone had similar problems? I'm thinking it's the network adapter. If not, then I am gonna be sad since I won't know what I'm doing wrong.
