Please could someone help me? I would like to rip single chapters from music compilation dvds ( I only want certain songs) like Live 8 etc, but am unsure how to go about it. I have ripped full dvds before using dvd decrypter and roxio media creator no problem, but need help with this task. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Jase
So you have like a concert DVD and want to rip only a specific song. Do you want audio only or video too?
Nero will do that for you. Open Nero recode>remake a DVD>Import Title: In the next window you should then see the Imported title (ie. complete film, length, size etc..) You can then edit by clicking "Start/End" either manually with the faders or by chapters, assuming the music DVD has them. Good luck
HI Hemes_vb, Thanks for your reply, I amlooking to have the video and audio from individual chapters. Cheers
I used Nero for this purpose a couple of weeks agofor a live concert DVD and it worked just great. Like I said, you can edit manually or by chapters - it`s relatively straight foreward. If you get stuck, get back !
I think PAD48 is right. Nero might be what's best for you. Long time ago I used it to do something like that, but it's been a long time and I can barely remember how to use it. Now for my editing I use DVDRemake.
I doubt it... Cos isn't ripping dvd audio on its own illegal? Correct me if i'm wrong... But if I'm right then no... Becos tools like that are now no longer available free cos of being illegal - free trials of dvd audio rippers are crap as they only do half of the track...
I agree with Ripper, but since this isn`t my area, I can`t really help. I used to use Wavelab (Steinberg) - it`s a while ago, and it worked fine for me at the time, but there are programmes out there that "specialise" in separating sound and video. You should find lots of useful Tips here on this Forum: search and find All you need is patience Good luck
Yes quite but Not for DVD Audio ripping you won't lol Read... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/373946 Neph says it's a no no here so sorry
My mistake. Sorry. I was just curious. Thanks anyway. edit = I didn't know how serious this issue was. Sorry again.
Well, I guess on second thoughts it does !! What`s illegal here? Using your head isn`t illegal as far as I know, and I`m gonna help where I can. "Ripping" is illegal - by definition of the word, but it`s no secret that everyone does it, so I don`t see a problem mentioning that.. only admitting it is, for which you can be held responsible and prosecuted. I don`t run a Forum, and I`m not a lawyer, so I accept that there are certain limits and boundaries to respect, but let`s be honest (pardon the pun) all you have to do is Google it..right? Did I just say something illegal ?
No you didn't say anything illegal - sounded like an idiot but illegal...no Ripping isn't illegal; If you own a Cd (for example) and want to rip the music to Pc or w/e for personal use then it's not illegal (however sharing that music would be)... - Um no everyone does not rip dvd audio cos it's hard to do as the tools aren't free or legal lol... - Ye it is so why did you just?... lol And go ahead and google it but you won't find full tools for free - only trials which rip halfof track... Soz to pick your reply apart but you know ^_^ ... *Btw just to be clear there's a diff between ripping dvd audio and music dvd's*
@Tranquash I use DVD Audio Extractor to rip the audio tracks of a concert/music dvd, not to rip DVD-Audio. I don't have any of those. I have an iPod Photo (not video)so I can't put the whole thing just the audio. There are other programs that can do that, but I only know the one I use. @All Others Illegal? Please Get REAL!! What's the difference between ripping a movie you own and backing it up and extracting just the audio portion of it? You still own the movie. You still use it for personal purposes. You don't sell it on a Flea Market. I realized some time ago that it was a better deal buying the Concert DVD than the live album. For about the same price I can get a better sound (with video) that I can also convert to other formats to meet my needs. If it's Illegal, why does AnyDVD is so recommended by members here? Why is that the SlySoft HAS to be located on Antigua (not USA nor Europe) and their programs can't be sold in stores? Copyright troubles perhaps? People grow up. If I like a Movie or Concert, I buy it. Then immediately I make a copy to protect my investment. I also want to be able to play it my way. Most of the times I play my concert DVD's with my TV turned off because I just want to listen to great audio, not watch the show. How's that different from extracting only the audio?
What do you mean " Sounded like an idiot" ? You want to get personal or what ? And while you`re about it....
@ everyone: seems we`ve diversed a bit from Jay007 original thread, and it`s obviously a heated topic. Different countries have different laws governing Copyright etc.. I live in Europe, Germany to be exact, but the theory is the same.
Hi Guys, First of all thanks for your help, secondly please lets not argue about whats right and wrong, we are all here to help each other. Cheers Guys
BTW, Smart Ripper or DVD Decrypter can be used for either ripping audio only or Ripping one chapter at a time. In DVD Decrypter, go into IFO Modeand select the movie you are ripping. Right click on it and set file splitting to none. Now select what chapter you want to rip and select stream processing. Then Choose to Demux the audio stream you want. This will rip only the audio out of the VOB. I think in Smart Ripper you go into Movie Mode. Then the process is the same. Select only the chapter you want and then demux the audio stream. This will yield you a .ac3 file. Use Bewsweet or the audio conversion program of your choice to convert it to whatever format you like. If you want only the chapter with audio video, etc... then you do not need to do anything with stream processing. Just place a check on the chapter you want and rip.
