I'm not sure how to post my log file but I also have this stupid error it says: _NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A Could not perform start disc-at-once burn process failed at 1x If someone could tell me how to post my log files so you can tell me what's wrong that would be great. i've been trying to get this crap to work for a week now.
here is a thread read through to about middle to find (how to) log post.. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/407567 i assume you are using nero..

Your version of Nero is back in the days of the Ark...try for update to 6.6.0.18 from here, BOTH packages..you will need your serial number http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
Okay ... I updated with both those upgrades ... still not working, same problem, illegal disc, burn failed ect. :/ Louise
Hi ilchapo Update the firmware on the drive - the latest is 1.0A. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1740 The log you posted is for a vcd - are you getting the illegal disc with cd's or dvd's? Which brand are you using like Sony +R 16x? burn process failed at 1x Too slow for either cd's or dvd's - your drive supports 8x for -/+ DVD's & 32x for cd's so try 4x for DVD's & 24x for cd's. CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON CD-ROM LTN-487T atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off Probably not playing into this error but best to have all drives in DMA mode. Here's a guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 If it's still a no go just post the new log and we'll go from there.
I think i installed the firmware, i'm not sure if i did it exactly correct, i had a bunch of files on my desktop and i installed all the files that were install-able (if that's a word!) i'm using sony dvd-r 16x i'm not sure how to make the burn faster, the fastest it has the option to burn at is 2.4x ... here's my new log! Ok the firmware isn't updated so here's another link for ya: http://www.de.nec.de/software/2482_Firmware_ND-2500A_WIN10B.zip Give that one a go. If the media codes for the Sony discs are in updates you shpuld now be able to pick a higher burn speed. File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS' Nero InCD can sometimes cause problems so if you not using it - uninstall in and run the clean tool. http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html Give that a go and let us know!
perfect! thanks so much binkie7, it's working, although somethings still not exactly not working... when i burned it and play it in the dvd player, the quality is really bad... black spots, choppy quatily. My dvd santa doesn't work anymore i have a unable to reserve track error, what else has that good of quality?
No problemo ilchapo For the disc that has the playback problems - try it in the pc see if you have the same problems there. Are you converting an avi? Which program did you use to convert?
I have an External drive and when I tried to update my firmware with the link that binkie provided I get cannot open c:\documents and settings\owner\local settings\temporary internet files\content.IE5\OVN7ISL9\2482_Firmware_ND-2500A_WIN10B[1].zip I was at 1.06 and was able to get it up to 1.07 but I can't get it to go any higher. My Memorex DVD's aren't being recongized but my Phillips are. Good Grief! I have a NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A
Hi cyanfalc Save the download to your desktop then open and run it with the drive connected. Memorex uses different manufacturers - not all good - so if the firmware update doesn't work on them try different media (my guess is the ones you have are 16x?) like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
Binkie7, what you suggested was real easy and I can't believe that it was so simple to fix. I'm at 1.0B now thanks to your help. I'm all set and my media seems to work now after a try or so. So I'm hearing that Memorex isn't the best media to use, so after this 50 bundle, I'll start using another brand. Thanks for the help.
I was able to get it to work earlier but now I get Device not Ready (medium not present) I used a Memorex disc and a Philips disc. Just my luck. Would you have a desktop trick for this?
Hmmm they're not the greatest discs but if your drive recognized them before it should recognize them again. Reset the burner- disconnect it from the usb port and power. Reboot the pc just for good measure. Now reconnect. Hopefully that will help.
ok, that did the trick. So I'll just take the cord out and re-connect and I'll be good if I run into this problem. Thanks!
