Hy all, I read the avi2dvd guide and i understand it verry well. But i have some questions. If my movie is in the ntsc format, and i want it to be playable on a stand alone dvd player, dvd 2 region, do i have to choose the option convert ntsc to pal ? Because i read an article explaining that most of the stand alone players in the region 2 are capable of playing ntsc format dvd's . If not, how can i know if it is better to put different movies in svcd format to my dvd then one single movie on a DVD ? In avi2dvd need i to shoose the dvd5 or 800 Meg cd disk size for svcd ? And the last question. I will use cce, how many passes do i have to set up 1, 2, 4 ... ? [EDIT] The avi info: 700 Meg time : 01:33:51 (135,000 fr) aspect : 672x368 (1.83:1) [=42:23] fps : 23.976 Thank you all, redgoblin,
You know what?i have downloaded every conceiveable converting and burning program there is and have yet to see any posts that will help me to convert, burn and play on my home dvd useing windows XP!Yea,i tried avi to dvd, nero, tmpg, aurora and the like.It would be refreshing to see a step by step(software included) process to take my avi or mpeg files all the way and see them on my home player. This is a challange to any that think they can do it !!!!!! bootss bootss@lycos.com
If you use the guide for avi2dvd you will see it is easy. Tu try it you can use a avi movie of 5 minutes, so you d'ont have to wait for the conversion and you can see the results. The guid can be found in the Guides section.
most of the stand alone players in the region 2 are capable of playing ntsc => Does your player supports this feature or not? Generaly speaking does not respond to your questions. Also take in mind that the audio has to be at 48 KHz if your player does not support the 44.1 KHz sample rate. More you must examine what kind of avi (container) you want to convert (e.g. mjpeg or other). Finally from a given file of lower picture quality you cannot improve the final result of the compilation.
--> Finally from a given file of lower picture quality you cannot improve the final result of the compilation. So i can do a 2 pass encoding because of the quality of my avi file. Thats what i did with it but it has taken up to 4 hours with the filmmachine, and cce 2 pass. Is this too long for a P4@2800 Mhz ? Tnx for you r post.
My intension was to make clear that if the avi file has been derived by a VCD movie converted to dvd movie will not increase the original quality. You can experience with small video files of any kind of all formats with a lot of applications (free or not) to find out the most suitable for your needs. Converting an avi file derived from vcd/svcd format to dvd it will request much more space on the disc, but the quality will be the same. What kind of format you 'll use for your projects to insert in your stand alone player depends from how thick is your wallet...
Well,I Downloaded Avi2DVD and i am more confused as ever? The guide shows many different programs that are used also with Avi2DVD.I have downloaded most of the free codec packs and I managed to copy a short movie file using avisyth? It did not convert to a video and audio folder though.Like Video_TS.It turned out to be an .avs file. What program does the actual burning and should i use blank DVD-R or formatted?I'm using a Nec 16x dual layer burner with win XP.I wish someone could post the programs needed and the start to finish procedure.
Personally I tried once to learn how to use avi2dvd but I was also confused. My opinion is that the last free of charge version to divxtodvd is the easiest way to convert from mpeg1 to dvd format with acceptable quality. In case that you want to compile your own projects (home videos, etc) you must start thinking for a commercial application. This will cover the video and audio tranfer to your hd and create initially an avi file which you have to compile in mpeg2 format and then create the appropriate dvd files (ifo's, vobs, bup's). Finally you have to burn the compilation. If you just found some avi files from various sources and you want to convert in dvd format you might experience luck of audio, synchronization problems, etc. AVI format, in fact, is a container which is not standard for all.
Hi Oracle, Thanks a lot for steering me to Divx to DVD.It worked the first time!!!!There are way to many companies out there with their own propritary software making it a nightmare for guys like me.I will likely use the program a while and then purchase it because it does what it says it will do.Thanks again, Paul
Hi all, I am now using Divx to DVD and it works! My only question now is how can i control the finished size of the DVD to fit on one DVD-r single layer disk.I don't see options in Divx to control size??Thanks again for your help Oracle. Paul
Sorry for the delayed answer. Just try to split your project in two discs. Otherwise you have to reduce quality using a third program such as DVDShrink or DVDRebuilder. In the second case compile your project to hd prior to burn it. Then just resize the original file with the above mentioned handicap.
