i hope i'm in the right forum. I'm very new at this and have done a lot of reading over the net and still not sure about what i need. I want to take a mpeg or movie file(which is considered a mpeg1 i think) off my HD and put in on a cd to play it on a dvd. My question(s): what is this called.. converting a mpeg1 into a vcd? Second can any dvd ripping software be used? Everything i read about talks about ripping dvd movies to put on your computer. I want to do the opposite. Also a vcd is a cdr with a mpeg burned onto it, is this correct. Can't get any newbie than this i know so please be nice LOL. Any help is very much appreciated. My biggest problem is to know what software to use. The rest of the questions are to help me understand better what it is i'm doing.

    thanks

If you have an mpeg file already on your HD then you just use burning rom such as Nero to burn the VCD. With Nero just use the wizard and choose CD and follow the path, then drag and drop the files and finally burn. It's not too difficult. You don't need DVD software.

Well you may first need to make the mpg file vcd compilant, which is done with encoders such as TMPGEnc, dont let nero encode it for you!! Also mate, try reading some articles and you should have no trouble in future http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/
