I just got a new computer with a DVD burner. I have downloaded DVD shrink and when I backup the DVD to my computer it says it's ready to burn with the proper software. What is the proper software? I tried downloading Nero but it is only a demo and won't let me do anything?

A great free burning tool is DVDdecrypter available at this site free. You can also use imgburn by lightningUK. It is only a burner though, whereas DVDdecrypter is a ripping tool as well as a burner. For the tough ones try DVDFab Decrypter which is also free, but it is not a burner only a ripping tool.

Check out the guides in my signature and you will be on the right track.

Good luck and post your progress.

Someone already has. Did you read the guides referenced in the above reply?

To summarize: Obviously, you have a choice, here. You can purchase Nero, and set it up so that it works exactly in the same old manner that you are used to, along with DVDShrink. This will work fine, with MOST discs (although some of the newer ones will now cause DVDShrink to fail, due to recent copy protection schemes). The advantage, of course, is that you already are comfortable with this method. The disadvantages, of course, is that this costs a bit of money, and that you will come across some discs that will not work with DVDShrink, if you use it as the first "ripper."

Or, you can click on some of the guides, and also explore some of the many other guides available both here and at other similar sites. The advantage, of course, is that you can almost always experience success, and it is also possible to save a few dollars. The disadvantage, of course, is that this will necessarily involve a learning curve, although this is easy to overcome.
