I have a DVD that was compilation of old 8mm movies. I want to transfer to DVD and edit or leave out parts of the original DVD because I am customizing them for individual gifts.

I have found a way to do this using Recode with the compilation option and then the "Trim" feature. Is this the most efficient Nero app to use for this to give me the best quality copy? There are no problems with file size to standard DVD+R.

Have you tried the NeroVision utility?

Thanks. So Nerovision is the place to go for editing?

Nero Vision is mainly for creating, converting and transcoding movie files such as AVI, DivX, MPP4 (MPEG-4) to DVD. If all you want is to edit, cut/trim parts of your movie, then you'll be better off with Nero Recode.

alkohol, I don't think you have used NeroVision lately. It is basically a video editing utility.

When I go to my video source, a DVD in this case the file is split into Video VS, VTS1,VTS2,VTS3. If I try to import them all, it seems to hangup. Which one do I choose. It lets me take Video VS but only imports 29 seconds of the movie on to the edit screen????

Do you see any VOB files? In my case, I show a VTS_01_1.VOB file with the actual video. It will ask you if you want to load the files together, and you can experiment with the best response. You might try loading them separately first to see which one is which. Some of the .VOB files are the menus or other things. My files are on the hard drive, and not the actual DVD. You may have to do something to make them accessible.

Apparently there are VOB files on the 01 file, and asked me if I wanted to combine. Which I did. But it is taking FOREVER to import these files in and analyse them.
