hi, i'm new to this forum and have a question about subtitle(-conversion). i already encoded many films, but i never had to deal with subtitles. and most of the threads in this forum deal with svcd's. i'd like to keep mine an avi/divx-file. what i have: movie (divx) vbr *.avi format *.srt file for the movie do i need to convert the subtitles in order to watch them with wmp or divx-player, and if yes how? (i already went to divx-digest and doom9, but didn't find anything that could really help me). do i have to put them in the movie permanently? or is there a player that can play srt-files? any help is really appreciated greensky
If you're using Microsofts Mediaplayer to watch your avi-files then get a tool called Vobsub. Now all you have to do is rename your srt-file to the same name your *.avi has. ie. if your movie is named ABCmovie.avi then name you subtitlefile ABCmovie.srt. Vobsub has a plugin for the Mediaplayer, as soon as you start playing your movie Vobsub will start showing the subtitle. greets
thanks for your help. i got vobsub. but if i play the movie ("avalon") with the avalon.srt file in the same folder, the image is flipped upside down. thats not the case without the subtitles!? i also found an avalon.txt-file, but it doesnt match with the audio. since i have very little time at the moment i would greatly appreciate any help to deal with this problem in the simpliest way. if there is already a thread that could help me and that i have overlooked i'd be very happy too! thanks for any help greensky
