Hi receently got a new computer and so also came with a motherboard with SATA slots.

Basically I was just wondering before I get a SATA Hard drive on Ebay so I have all the right leads.

I know I'll need a power splitter to enable two hard drives to jack into my one available slot, however Im new to SATA and was wondering wether this was a replacement for IDE cables or do I need a SATA and IDE cable to wire it all up?

    Cheers

you only need a SATA cable connected from the Hard drive to the MOBO. SATA replaces E.I.D.E. cabling to be faster and to besmaller to allow better air flow through the case

Cheers thats what I needed to know I just wasn't sure whether it acted as an extension to IDE or as a replacement.

So do you really feel the difference?
