Hi this is my first post, so please be gentle. i have an avi movie that i cannot play. ive been on help sights that say get extraction tools, so i got winrar, get codecs packs so i got Ace mega CodecS Pak, and Divx Player 2.0 Alpha. Anyway i opened the file in AVIcodec and it reads.

    File: 703MB(703MB),duration 1.37:51,type AVI,1 audio stream(s) quality 66%

    Video: 613MB,876Kbps, 250.0fps, res 640*288 (2.21:1), XVID=XVID Mpeg4
    supported

    Audio: 89MB, 128kbps, 44100Hz, 2chan, 0x55= Lame MP3 supported.

now thats all lovely but i still cant make it play, what else do i need for playback and to be save it to a normal file. that plays on my pc..
I havent got the fogiest idea of what i should be doing.
Any gentle help would really be appreciated.
    thank you

All you need to play that back is Xvid or ffdshow with Xvid decoding enabled. Windows takes care of the rest (avi splitter and mp3 decoder) I would NOT recommend installing codec packs.

You could also use mplayer or VLC. These include all the decoders, etc. needed.
