Greetings. I was trying to continue my previous thread, but unfortunately this site doesn't allow Newbies to write to a thread older than 60 days.

Anyway, I just wanted to update you on my trials and tribulations with my dvd burner. Turns out after some research, I didn't have the correct +/- burner I was sold. However, the seller was gracious enough to replace it with a brand new AOPEN unit. I took out the old, put in the new and now it's burning like a MoFo! And I've used both + and - and they burn great. And,they all play perfectly well on all types of dvd players.

So thanks to all those who were so gracious to offer assistance in my time of need. I'm on my third video production and it's so much fun.

    Ron

glad to hear you got things resolved...a similar incident happened to me before in the past, the drive was NOT the same as advertised on the box. i don't know HOW something like that happens, since i had purchased a Sony (retail sealed), yet a Hitachi branded model was in the box when i got home and opened it up. anyways, always good to hear that you have found success in your dvd burning. have a good one. keep em' burning.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. The reason my burner was wrong is that the reseller buys the machines basic. Then he add aftermarket items like the burner. I've seen some machines where they actually replace the ram and hard drive and sell it for much more. Must be quite a business.
