I just got an xbox (unmodded) and have been reading about modding it. i have a few questions. First how do you FTP the xbox. there is a lot of tech jargin that i dont understand. a step by step walkthrough would be great (i have a router and the xbox is hooked into it) i downloaded flashfxp but dont know why it wont FTP to the xbox... is there something i need to change on the xbox to make it enabled? Second is what are the pros and cons to softmodding the xbox? i have heard a lot about it and i dont know exactly what it entails. Any help would be aprechiated. Is there an adapter to plug in usb devices? Also have a question about changing the menu screens in the reg "dashboard" (is that the right term?) I dont know a general direction would be cool.
You [bold]can't[/bold] FTP unless your xbox is modified and running an alternative dashboard or XBMC. Pro's= don't have to buy a modchip,don't have to open your console,fast and simple if you have all the required items. Cons= If you screw it up you could render your xbox unbootable, not as many options as a modchip enables.
Ok so i did a little bit of research. I did modify my controller by adding a usb port and downloaded the MA Linux installer which also comes with the uninstaller. My question is this. once i get into linux then what? Is Xebian the way to go or can anyone really suggest another dashboard that is better? Also where can i get these? Help would be aprechiated. IMPORTANT Also i know that i am supposed to backup my eeprom... how do i do this. Thanx ahead of time.
