I've noticed that there is no option to use your signature on news comments, but if you edit them, the option then becomes available. By digging a little deeper and finding the corresponding forum thread to the news article, you can leave a sig as normal.

Is this a glitch in the system or is it meant to be like that?

It is actually meant to be that you cant post your sig to news comments, but there are few flaws, as you discovered, in blocking this. This is simply due the fact that news items tend to achieve much higher page impression figures than an average discussion thread does, thus if there are sig images that load slowly, it might annoy simply too many users who came to read an article.

Right, I get it. So the problem is not that you can't post a sig, it's that you can if you try hard enough. Apologies if I wasn't meant to notice that.

No, its good when people find weird stuff from our site and tell us about it. After all, we try to improve the site's code base constantly and to make the user experience as good as possible -- wierd and inconsistant stuff like this always annoy people and should therefor be fixed.
