there are indeed Verbs made in Japan, however the discs are Taiyo Yuden, and i believe some/or all Dual Layer Verbs are made in Singapore

if i remember correct our buddy docTY said something about those verbs MIJ, we cant get them here in the states just over the big pond are they available...now that sucks..... those sony8x+r's at samsclub is in 2 cake boxes taped togther the 50ct box is mij and the 25 are mit's at least thats the way they are here at my sams club.. Best Buy also has the verbatim lightscribe dvd+r's on sale i think they are 30ct for $24.95
It was late last night and I made a mistake or two. I intended to identify the Verbs as MCC-003 and the Sonys as YUDEN000-T02. Sorry about the confusion on the Verbs as MIJ's. The Verbs are 8x as well, man I need to sleep more so these things don't happen again. Thanks for noticing the mistake and thanks to Creaky for all the good info. BTW, the Verbs I purchased at Sam's that code as MCC-003 say Mitsubishi Chem. Corp. on the box. Again sorry about the bad info. Info fixed and again let us know about the good deals as you find them. I was also lucky enough to get the Sonys 25 and 50 pack as MIJ. Luck of the pick at Sam's I guess. I also have to be on the same page as [bold]blivetNC[/bold] on the backup thing, I have a 4 and 6 year old and they can scratch a disc just by looking at it. 35 cents is way better than 15 dollars the way I look at it. ............c
There are a couple of telltale signs about the 75-pack of Sony MIJ at Sam's. At least here in Nashville, I've found it to be so; that the ones you want to look for to code out as TY are (a)1x-8x, (b)MIJ, and (c)a white hex shaped packing ring at the top of the pack. With all three conditions being so, I've always gotten TY coded discs. It never hurts to look around. I've even found at BB, the stacks galore of Sony discs on sale most of the time yield MIT, but plunder through the stacks and you'll likely fish out a few MIJ. A great way to see quickly is the 1x-8x on the side of the package. The 1x-16x, I've always found to be MIT. Verbs - well what can I say? I did find one pack MIT on sale for $9.99/50, but they did code out as MCC. It was an open box sale at BB and there were only 49 actually in the pack. I snapped them up and kept looking over my shoulder for security. ;-)
so the best DVD+R DL are verbatim (why doesnt that die matter here) Tayo Yuden is still the best DVD+R? Does anyone know of any 16x DVD+R that are made by tayo yuden like i could find at a best buy. last year i had some 8x fuji film dvd+r from best buy and they were all TayoYuden
you arent going to find the 16x that code out as TY at best buy etc.you will have to get them online BUT everyone inculding me are have much better results with the TYGO2s 8x but iam using the DVD-R you might have better results with the DVD+R

aabbccdd..OK Thanks..I just orded Verbs 50pk 9.00 after rebate.I know their rebates are good cause I've used them B4
The thing to keep in mind about Verbatim is they have regular DataLife and they have DataLifePlus. DataLifePlus is the stuff you want I just bought 100 DataLifePlus +R from newegg and the part # is 95052.
What's the difference between the two (datalife and datalifeplus). I've read discussions about the two on other sites (haven't checked to see if there are any on this one) and those discussions didn't really have an actual conclusion to em.
these days they're supposed to be phasing out the datalifeplus naming, there's details in a few threads somewhere around here, but the shops are certainly still full of datalifeplus at the moment so don't know when the phasing out is to start
Yeah, I have some Verbs that weren't labelled DL or DLP, so it's pretty new to me. These Verbs I have are great, with the burner I currently have they are just as good as TYs if not slightly better.
the Verbatims are top notch media the DL or DLP(which are getting hard to find) and there alot easier to find than Sony or Fujifilm DVD+R 8x that code out as Taiyo Yuden. and are just as good
