ok now that i have figure out i need dash r's for my player... will these dash r's play in all players. i know that sounds dumb. so my next question is and i have read a bunch of the debates which is better - or +... got me confused... id say in my situation the -r's are better... @blivetNC where ya been man havent seen ya around in a while my/our guy arroyo has had some bad luck these past few outings..lol
Too damm busy working, too much fun, heck we get to watch ESPN2 all day at work, keeps us happy.... I have had good luck with the Office Depot +R disks, coding out as Ritek P16, seem to be good so far, we'll have to see though how they last. Picked them up for $16.99 for a 100 pack a couple of weeks ago.
cincyrob ,the DVD-R should play in almost any dvd player out there. ive burned over 7000 or 8000 DVD-Rs and they play in 99.9% of the players ive thrown them at .they say the DVD+R is the best format but iam not convinced as long as your using quality blank media (Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim) you will be fine
well i did another one last night on my new found high clas topnotch unfoulable superduper khypermedia.....works perfect...lmao.....guess im gonna have to get me some TY -r'sthe sony's that are +r mij's....are the -rs mij also and do they code out as TY's or is it only the +r sony's
@aabbccdd i let my mother in law borrow my copy of utlraviolet which i did on the dvd-r you know my good stuff...lol she said it wouldnt play in her dvd player....guess she must be the .01% that dont play the dash r's. but this get weirder... i gave her the first copy i burnt on the 16x+r verb that i had a problem with and she said it played fine for her.... question for anyone.. can someone post the site thats breaks down the media types out there... i have seen it on here somewhere but cant seem to find it again... the list of the top notch to the garbbage that i just bought. this is kinda off the subject but has to do with burning, does the ammount of memory you have affect your burns? i have a stick of 512 ddr pc2700 right now....does more memory help with the burning process/ripping????? was just curious if this had anything to do with my problem,, but i know it dont
cincyrob..Ritek,Taiyo Yuden [-R's]..I pick these even over Verbatims or any other Disc on the market. These have not let me down in any player.I have only used about 200 Verbatims & switched back to Ritek & Ty's,a friend of mine has a Coby will not play any type of +'s or -Verbs.He just spent about a 100bucks on a RCA it won't play Verbs at all..Plays everything else though DO NOT BUY Ritek Arita AS THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE. invest in a epson printer, buy the hub printable DVD's.U can put a nice label on your Disc.Definetly pays off in the end
cincyrob, heres that link http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm more memorey would help some but your cpu is the most important thing when it comes to ripping/transcoding/burning etc. personaly i would run at least 1 gig for what your doing
One thing I've noticed Cincyrob, ever since I replaced the power supply, goiing from 250 watts to 450 watts, more excellent burns, I'm not sure if this is coincidence or not, have 2 hard drives, two burners installed in the system, originally I had one hard drive, one burner, one DVD drive. I've been having good luck so far with the Office Depot 16X+R Ritek P16 disks, booktyped to DVD-ROM of course. Just my 2¢ worth.
@blivetNC I don't think it's coincidence that you got better burns just after you upgraded your power supply from 250 to 450W.Because the 250W was set to supply enough power for one hard drive and one burner maximum, but if you add one more burner and one more hard drive, then definitely the 250W wouldn't be powerful enough to take care of all these drives. That's why after you've put the 450W,you noticed the big difference. You did not guess wrong about that,it's a certainty. The more things you have on your pc and which take power from that same power supply, the higher the power supply's watt will be better, then you'll be sure that all these additional stuffs(hard drive,burners,fans,etc...)will get enough watt to function properly. That's the reason why those who are in pc tuning use power supply with the highest watt. Vincent.
Thanks for confirming my suspicions, @CincyRob, check on www.newegg.com for daily specials on power supplies, picked mine up for $29.99 (with rebate) and free shipping, installation was straight forward, unplug the old one, plug in the new one and voila! happy camper again.
thanks aabbccdd for the link, added to my favorites.... @blivetNC... as for the ritek(OD)brand.went there today they had a ton of them but should i look for mij's?????i didnt see any of them that said mij... im still not sure about makeing the switch to the dash R's just yet i have to many +rs to not use them, i'd be tossin away about $100 worth of disc.might just go buy me a new dvdplayer...
ok i just burned 4 movies this morning all on the sony +r's mij. all 4 turned out great played just fine on my junky pioneer player. so thats telling me it just dont like the verbs i have....think im gona just ditch this player and get me a new one and stick with the verbs i have left(about 40 or so) then use all TY's i am looking at this dvd player sounds pretty nice outside the name its called a protron. I have a Samsung DVD-R120, wife got it for me for Christmas last year, love it. only records -R disks though, bought 15 DVD-RW disks (Fuji -R disks) Love it. Use TYG-01 -R disks for really important stuff, like old home videos and old VHS tapes. My first choice was a Lite-on 5005 unit which records both + and- R formats. B.J.'s and Costco usually stock them for less than $79.00. Just a thought.
Protron Progressive Scan DVD Video Recorder PDDVR100 ...I Googled this but could not really find a good review on this.
@kivory666, aabbccdd, or anyone with the answer; Who the heck makes Magnavox media, Office Max has them on sale this next week ($13.99 16x DVD+R 50 pack). I am assuming that they are CMC since their media has never been mentioned on a positive note before. hehe. Looking forward to the answer. ..........c BTW: I use the 8x Verbatim's or Sony TY's most of the time. I have some luck with the Sony made DVD media too but I do heed the advice of The Doc and use TY most of the time. Good stuff.
Here's a list of these so "famous" CMC Mag discs.Greensman, your magnavox is in the list too.Better stay away with medias which are listed in this link. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediadvdridsearch=CMC MAG. AM3 Vincent.
