batori- It's like saying will I get Alzheimer's or will I live to be a hundred ? ect. I have used Philips 8X DVD-R media which is CMC some of my backups are 6 month to a year or more old and i have'nt had any problems yet ! But I may just be lucky ! I would say that if your have'nt had any problems don't worry ! the only way you can be sure your movie will play in a year or more is to try it after that long ! I have'nt be at this as long as many of the esteemed AFTERDAWN.COM membersip but I've done my share and learned along the way! I would suggest if you worried about longevity - put all your backups on Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media ! or you could use mediacal grade media which is much more expensive but made especcially to be stable longterm ! But I think that would be overkill ! AS long as you stay away from the off the wall stuff you should be okay !Again I hope my limmited knowledge has helped ! peace my friend & happy burning!
I have Databank -R 8x which identify as Sony. I have found them to be good so far, not having used many from a 50 disk spindle. They aren't in dogbomb's list, anyone have info on them?
Hey, Guess what...... I just bought my first spindle of 10 Verbatim DVD-R's for $9.95 AUD, i checked them with nero and found the code to be MCC 02RG20. I checked the back and it said made in taiwan.
nice one; ps have you been following the new thread here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/214037 ?
Nope i havent yet, lucky i didnt get those, if i did i would be so pi$$ed off i would go back to the store and throw them on the counter with anger and ask nicely for a refund
LOL alien~ how ya been? those Verbs are just fine...why you think creaky came a running so fast? i believe THOSE are his favs. i only have a 100 pack spindle of those as i prefer the dvd+r MCC003s, but, those are FINE from my own limited Verb dvd-r experience as well` demand politely, now THAT is an oxymoron if i ever heard one~
they are indeed my fav's, though i nearly bought another 100 TY today, but a bit steep at £46, the last lot i got were at Verb prices, ie £38. Nearly bought 150 16x +R Verbs a couple hours ago, but i can always get some later..
the MCC004s have been GREAT in my experience so far creaky~ i think you will really LIKE those~ TYs are expensive over there in UK~ good lord~
once i move off the boat i won't have to worry about £10 difference between TY's, i'll buy shedloads of TY and Verbs, i'll have room for them for change too
Heheh. I finally have a "spindle" of good discs I now have 1 laser and 1 teac disc left, i used most of them tryin to backup a damn ps2 game but it wont boot.
Can someone please tell what are the best DVD+R & DVD-R media? I've tried Memorex and Princo. Princo sucked soo bad that other DVD- Roms didn't even read it. Memorex same problem.
memorex = junk DONT use them get Taiyo Yuden Verbatium or Ritek or stuff that codes out as TY as far as DVD dash R or DVD plus R theres many debates on this check the fourm. either or is not better there just different formats i use DVD dash R but in some test the DVD plus R seem to test out better. if you do use DVD plus R booktype them to DVD-ROM to be more compatable with most standalone players.and the DVD plus R cost a little more in some cases
@soulz9 - read this - [bold]..Memorex/CMC - don't let them near your Burner.....[/bold] - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/195438
@Alien13 - looks less than good from a quick search - snippets from here - http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.p...&hits=25&country=&search=Search+or+List+Media -
