I replaced the bottom screen on my daughter's Nintendo Ds Lite and now it does not work at all. Before replacing the screen, everything worked on the DS and she could play games and all. What I have done to it?
What are your symptoms besides "it does not work at all." You know, something descriptive like. Does the charge light come on? Does the power light come on at all when you turn it on? Do either of the screens "blink" or show anything?
It will not power on, blink, or make a sound. I've took it apart again and made sure all the ribbons were connected completely and still no power.
The new bottom screen, did it have a thin black rubber coating covering most of the back, some of the cheap screens don't. If it doesn't then it can short out and blow the fuse on the motherboard.
no, the ac adapter did not help. I did read about the black cover on the back after I was trying to find out what was wrong and I read somewhere that you can cover the new screen with clear tape and I did but still nothing. I probably did blow the fuse and I'm not about to attempt to fix that.
the bottom screen on my ds lite isent working is ther any way i can get it fixed thh games play on the top part
You can purchase a replacement bottom screen on ebay and there are several blogs online with instructions on how to replace it yourself once the part is in. You need a triwing screwdriver and before you put the new screen in, make sure the back of it is lined so that the metal does not come in contact with any of the inside components. As an update to my initial post starting this thread...I'm not getting an orange blink after unplugging the ac adapter. Does that mean the battery is bad, the cable is not hooked up right still or that the fuse is bad or good? Anything would be helpful. Nothing but the orange blink.
jsuggs1 - Still fuse, take the DS appart and the fuse you are looking for is F2 on the motherboard (surface mount and very small). With the board in front of you, it is on the side with the DS metal slot, with the slot to the top (away from you) the fuse is on the right hand side of the slot about 2/3 of the way down. It is marked F2 on the board, with a multimeter, use the continuity checker to test the fuse.
It was indeed the fuse and it was actually F1 that was blown. Instead of replacing it, we just soldered a bridge (risky, I know but at this point, I was ready to throw it in the trash) So...imagine my glee when we hit the power button and the green light came on and the new screen, touch screen everything worked! Not a small task but we now have a working Ds good as new! Thanks for everyone's help.
