Okay lets have a little more info,

What is the full name of your R4, where and how long ago did you buy it?
Did you set the card up when you got it, or did somebody else?
Do you have the original firmware files?
Have you ever sucessfully set up an R4 with the firmware you have before?

Formatting your card with this often helps (it formats your SD properly)
    http://www.4shared.com/file/221775557/63623bc8/Panasonic_SD_Format_SET_UP.html

Going back to the website you bought it off you will often have a firmware download section of the cards they stock.

If your card is an actual original R4 then download this firmware
    http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/dl.php/R4_v1.18_English.zip

If your R4 is one of the many clone cards the firmware will be harder to find.

(There are many ways errors are made in setting up a flashcart, and I cant be sure from your posts how knowledgeable you are with them yet, therefore i am trying to get an idea if it is just a simple thing you may be doing wrong,(like for example not unzipping the firmware files before copying to SD card), or indeed it may be an actual fault with your card.)

    SOmebody please help.
I bought an R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) and downloaded the firmware that was recommended for it which consists of two folders,
system and moonshl dated 5/12/2008 and two files called ds_menu.dat and ds_mshl.nds dated 12/27/2009.
I had a micro SD 2GB and loaded these files on it along with a folder containing a SD game. But, when I put the R4 in the DS and turn it on, it does not detect the R4 and thinks that there is no card in the device.
Any advice on how to atleast make the SD see the card?
    Thanks

    @fgood

    Need a little more info...

What DS system do you have? DSLite/DSi?
Where did you buy your card from?
What is written on it exactly?

take micro sd card out put flash cart back in turn on machine if the card is detected you will get an error message as the firmware is missing, this will prove the card is working, then you need to put the correct firmware on the micro sd card and, as long as the micro sd card slot is ok the firmware should load, on the dstt card i had sometimes would not be able to detect it, i would take micro sd card out turn on ds with empty flash cart, turn back off remove flash cart put micro sd in put back in and turn on, i would find this method work and the card would now be detected.

The DS card is from www.R4DS.com. R4 Revolution
I tried removing and puting it back and also removed the SD card and inserted the R4 in the DS and still says "There is no DS card inserted"
The DS instrument is a DS Lite. Am I using the wrong software or hardware?
    Thanks again

reason i say dud card is the ds should detect it without a micro sd card in it and give you a warning symbol saying missing firmware, yours does not so this indicates a hardware problem be it your R4 or console, is the R4 detectable in another DS? does your DS load other cards? the question you answer no to is the indication to which peice of hardware is faulty. i going with the R4 last time i counted there were 34+ versions of R4 found here http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/

hopefully this is more than enough detail for you.

I opened the card and there was a circuit board in it. If it is burnt I don't know. I will check it in another DS. Our DS works with other game cards with no problem.
    Thanks

with the circuit board alot of people can make the same as the one you got with chip writers etc its almost the same but not quite, they even make the same packaging.

Actually I found that the R4 works in other DS Lites. Also other peoples working R4 do not work in our ds. I think that our ds has something that detects the chip is R4 rather than original game and prevents the ds from reading it. We got it at costco. Any ideas on this?

    Hello all.

I am a regular on these forums and know how tedious it is to be asked the same questions again and again, so if i am asking a question that has already been answered please forgive me (but please help me too and direct me to the answer i am looking for)

I have used the original R4 card for many years and i love it.......

Now my nephew is looking for the latest games (grand theft auto for one) Whilst i have found and downloaded the ROM it will not work on my (or his) R4 card. Searching for updated software (firmware) i have become aware that the R4 software V1.18 was the last version made and that there is V1.19 for clones only. i have tried the v1.19 and it actually got closer to loading the game it still never worked fully.

    MY QUESTION IS:-

Is there a software update available to make my R4 card work with the latest games?

If not what is the latest card i should buy him to work with the latest NDS roms?

Thanks for reading and again i apologise for repeating any already answered question. A link to any forum on afterdawn which addresses this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all your help (in advance)
