I have just bought a R4 card with a 2G Micro SD. The box didn' come with a disk so I have downloaded latest kernel from r4ds site. I have loaded the four files into root directory (system (folder) moonshl (folder) ds menu dat and ds mshl.nds). Then I created a folder called Games also in the root directory and placed a game (.nds file) into the Games folder. I have done this several times, even following a video on Youtube to make sure I was doing it correctly. But when I put the R4 card into the DS (not lite) it says there is no DS card inserted. I don't even get the first Loading screen I'm suppose to. Please somebody help this is doing my head in, I've been on it for four days now.
You are a little ahead of yourself. First things first. It sounds like your R4 is bad or not making good contact. If you insert the R4 with no microSD card the DS should still see the R4 card but say "Couldn't find the SD/TF card". If you don't even get that far, it sounds like your R4 is defective and has nothing to do with the files on the microSD card.
I think you might have something there. I've put the card in without micro SD and still the same. I think I bought a dud. Thanks for the help.
