When I'm trying to back up Sin City using DVD Shrink with ANYDVD in the background I cannot get any audio...I know there is a thread for this already but this is different. When I go to Reauthor and pull the main movie over to the left, then I push play to preview the movie, it wont have audio...keep in mind-this was before I backed it up. If I use power DVD to watch it straight from the original disc, then it works fine. So I thought I would try to back it up anyways and see what happens and my file, when opening it using PowerDVD, didnt have any audio...AND YES I HAD THE AUDIO CHECKED....I then tryed DVD Decrypter and I had the same problem, No Audio???? I always preview the movie using DVD Shrink but this is the first time I didnt get audio BEFORE I BACKED IT UP??? I've been backing up movies for awhile and never seen anything like this...any help would be great..thanks

This movie is by default DTS audio,if your stereo equipment doesnt support DTS, then you wont hear sound. What you need to do is toggle through your audio streams with your remote, to find the audio stream that works for you.

Its works on my computer....when i open up PowerDVD and open it directly from the original disc than it works. Like I said Shrink wont play it directly from the original disc though(audio) when previewing the movie in either full disc mode or in reauthor mode. I also took DTS off and put only AC35.1 english on.

How can I go through my streams like you said? Keep in mind that this is on my computer not my TV. I'm not going to waste a TY on a movie with no audio so I would like to make sure it works before burning.

    thanks

I am having the same problem trying to back up Sin City. I am using DVD Decrypter to write to hard drive. Then using DVD Shrink to encode. I also tried to both rip, and encode with DVD Shrink. There is no audio, both in the preview box of DVD Shrink, and in the finished product (played on a dvd player, while checking all the audio possibilities). Is this possibly a new type of copy protection?? Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and yes, I can play it from the original disc using Power DVD also. Try to rip, and you lose the audio....What gives???

if there is a new copyright then ANYDVD should crack it, but I have ANYDVD running along with Shrink and still have problems.

In dvd shrink you can right click the preview screen, while the movie is playing, and choose different audio streams. In the preview screen, is where you will find out what im talking about. The first audio stream thats available will be DTS(as I said before, the "default" audio)if you have no sound there, then choose AC3 5.1 audio stream, you should now have sound in your dvd shrink preview window, and therefore have sound on your dvd when you find the right audio.

@Adouble11,im not very familar with powerdvd,I have windvd, and I wasnt able to find a way to choose different audio streams. If you have audio in dvd shrink as I stated above, the burned dvd will have sound,on standalones where you can choose seperate audio streams(most standalones will have this option)

As I said in an earlier post,I just did the movie and it works on my standalones when you toggle through the audio streams.

There is no new copy protection on this dvd.

It doesnt happen much, because most dvd's dont make there default audio DTS.Ive found others that are this way,the Disney movie Tarzan 2 comes to mind right off the bat, and im sure there are others.

ok just so i know. (this is VERY new to me) When i'm looking at the preview screen before ripping I right click it and select AC3 5.1 English. Then rip it. So when i do burn the dvd i should have audio? Or am i missing something here? Then only thing i have checked in audio (to the right) is AC# 5.1 English. Should that all work then/ Thanks.

The preview screen will just show you what audio streams are available.
You have to make sure you find the one that plays, and then choose it when selecting, or deselecting, audio stream check boxes,in dvd shrink.

I was just merely trying to prove a point that the audio is indeed there, even if your equipment doesn't support the DTS audio.

Yes,if you choose the AC3 5.1 audio in your check box selection, you will have sound,if you can toggle through audio streams with your remote control(which you can with most, if not all dvd players)

Keep in mind that when you first put the disc in your dvd player, it will have no sound, until you change it off the default DTS audio.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of useful information available on this site.

Yesterday I made a copy of Sin City and guess what? No Audio!!

Today I made another copy and I UNchecked everything except "Dolby AC-3/6" and it works like its suppose to. Thanks Everyone
