Hi my downloaded movies[avi]play fine on my pc, but when i put them on my external hard drive and play them on my tv through my Sv8000 HD receiver....there is no audio and the picture looks a little off.

My friend has the same problem when he burns his dvd's.

    not sure what RTFM IS?

My hard drive is connected to one of my receivers with a usb cable and the receiver is connected to my tv using the 6 colored plugs.

I use to the receiver to record movies directly to the hard drive from the tv. The hard drive is Formatted to FAT 32

I do not profess to be an expert but I will make these comments. Avi files are usually low res so they my not look very good on a large screen.

Can you output from your computer through the SD cable to your receiver? Since your computer seems to be OK putting the audio and video through the same cable would seem to be the right way to do what you want.
